I'm afraid you're right. It goes on like that all over the country. People don't like how things are going, so they keep on voting for the same types of "leaders", and they even pick more extreme versions of the people that were voted out. Chicago is a good example of that, as is the State of Illinois in general. And of course California.
The article says the "official campaign website" says that, but there is no link or even image of it. There should be a link to the housing policy document. Thank you, @ThatRobGuy for providing this!

A housing policy document on Mamdani's official website includes a pledge to "shift the tax burden from homeowners in the outer boroughs to more expensive homes in richer and whiter neighborhoods."
That is certainly tone deaf. The only thing I can think of is that if he limited it to "wealthy" he would be accused of antisemitism, like when Omar referred to "the Benjamins".
It's been longer than I remembered (2006) since the governor has been a Republican. I also thought that upstate and western NYS were more MAGA. Nine years is a long time for current times (we're not discussing historical times).
Hmmm.. Where have I seen that before.
