US troops on the ground in LA immigration enforcement operation, DOD says

Defense officials said that 90 armed troops were involved in the operation.

It was not immediately clear who or what was targeted, as the local Fox News Channel affiliate aired video of agents in a mostly empty park.

All of the troops involved in the operation were activated members of the California National Guard.

The operation included some 17 Humvees, four military cargo trucks and two military ambulances, officials said.

Lots of cameras around. Any arrests?

It's been said before that what's happening in Los Angeles is all practice for your home town. This certainly looks like practice.

Heavily armed immigration agents descend on MacArthur Park in L.A.

Dozens of immigration agents, some on horseback, others carrying rifles in armored vehicles, swept through MacArthur Park on Monday in an extraordinary show of force at the heart of Los Angeles’ immigrant community.

It’s unclear if anyone was arrested during the sweep.

“This was just one big, perverse publicity stunt,” said Ron Gochez, a member of Unión del Barrio, an independent political organization advocating for immigrant rights and social justice. “It was just to show force, it was just to take pictures.”

The chaos on Wilshire Boulevard around MacArthur Park had mostly calmed by 11:30 a.m., though a few protesters and members of the news media lingered afterward.

It's possible there were no (or few) arrests because activists notified people in the area. Which musta been something to behold, because the place is usually bustling with people primarily of Central American heritage. And drug addicts.

...but seriously, why are federalized National Guard and Border Patrol agents conducting a military operation in a city park?

There was no unrest.
There was no violence.
There was no possible justification for this operation.

....just everyday life in a latino area of L.A.
Kids in a summer day camp.
Food trucks.
....and armed troops, border patrol on horseback and armored vehicles.

Believing there's anything new about INS and ICE doing deportation raids on restaurants, big stores, factories etc would require pretending.

Seeing the president being called an evil dictator as anything new, would require pretending.
