Good grief - It is written in the Constitution. will 3/4 of the sitting Democratic Congress people vote for a Constitutional Change?

The thought is so far outside of the realm of possibilities, it belongs in the conspiracy forum. What functioning adult could come up with a realistic approach to it? Even the AI geniuses on this site could not find a realistic method for this to be done.

If the Congress is behind the president (and at this point, the Congress is proven to be behind the president) and the Supreme Court is equivocal (and at this point, they've shown that they are), then...

...What is Constitutional?

FYI, by law, the American people vote for a President every four years. A President cannot disallow that.
yes because we've all seen how much the supreme court and congress are willing to stand up to trumps dangerously dumb ideas.

Ideally, I'd think it would depend upon the party platform and quality of candidates aligned with it. In reality, I agree with a friends half joking comment: Trump will eventually call it the "African American Party" as a slur and everyone will stay away.

Well, if Elons platform is supposed to revolve around expanding bitcoin, becoming stagnant in global affairs, and reducing the national debt, millennial voters seem to align with these things.

Not my cup of tea as far as priorities go.

Gotta love this!

Here is what is constitutional

The 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is the one that limits presidential terms.
  • A person can be elected president only twice.
  • If someone serves more than two years of a term to which someone else was elected (like a VP stepping in), they can only be elected once more.
There are only two ways to change an Amendment -

Changing a constitutional amendment in the U.S. is no small feat—and that’s by design. The Founding Fathers wanted the Constitution to be adaptable, but not easily swayed by fleeting passions. Here’s how the process works under Article V of the Constitution:

️ Two Ways to Propose an Amendment
  1. By Congress(most common):
    • A proposed amendment must pass both the House and Senate with a two-thirds majority.
  2. By a Constitutional Convention:
  • If two-thirds of state legislatures (currently 34 out of 50) call for it, Congress must convene a national convention to propose amendments.
  • This method has never been used.
So unless you think the majority of Democratic Congress people are going to suddenly support Trump - how about we just stop this foolishness?

Hah, I think people take that "no kings" stuff literally. Or is it another false flag some are holding up in their sleeve intentionally. We'll see I guess, how imaginative the storyline can become.

Like religion, when it comes to politics, people are stuck on tradition. Yet in my country a third party proved beneficial, not to the elites, but the people, for though it came close but never in actual power, it wielded more weight when it came to demands as any minority government depended upon their support to survive. An excellent leveller pf power.

I can summarize this whole thread in two sentences.
1 the president cannot suspend elections and cannot serve for more than two full terms.
2 our current president is someone who breaks laws as frequently as most people floss their teeth.

How and why will he prevent another election? Please answer. This sounds important.
tbh I think its highly unlikely he will somehow cancel the election. My only point was that I dont view the constitution itself as much of an impediment.

Much more likely is something like his admin coordinating with agreeable secs of state to invalidate various batches of votes if it could swing the presidency or congress.

Like in percentage terms, how unlikely do you think it is?
Or He declares an "emergency" and his group installs the current VP as president - with the approval of a compliant congress and court. But just for the duration of the"emergency", of course.
What kind of emergency?

A third party in America? Hmmm, how about 5 corporations? both democrat and republican organizations would need to collapse and then corporations would take their slice of American pie.

The last guy who tried that was Perot? he just faded into obscurity. For whatever reason a third party doesn't seem to be part of the American mentality.

I dont know.
What kind of emergency?
"Invasion" perhaps. Or maybe they "find" wmds somewhere that needs urgent military attention. Maybe even just bunch of wildfires. They do have some creative people on staff, I will say.

I strongly suspect the vast majority of people will say no
it is very common to think 3rd parties simply don't work even if they would want them to and a vote for Musk just helps the Democrats
if you want to help Democrats just vote Democrats.
Didn't he help Trump get elected? He bought Twitter. And deleted people that didn't support Trump. All Elon has to do. Is get on Trumps and the fox news channel's good side. Then find another Republican, that agrees with Musk. Musk is a lot smarter than Trump and most people. And Musk is smart enough to get a party started. And get Trump supporters to elect, who ever Musk choose. Trump won't be able to be president for ever.

It depends on who ends up getting the nod as the candidate for that new party.
(and more importantly, who the other two options are)

Andrew Yang has been in contact with him about it. Other names that have been floated are Thomas Massie, Mark Cuban, and Ron DeSantis.

If, in 2028, the 3 options listed on the ballot are AOC, Andrew Yang, and JD Vance...

I would gladly cast my vote in favor of "The Yang Gang" under that set of circumstances (and I assume there would be many others who felt the same way) -- Mark Cuban could create a "could go either way" situation as well.

However, if 2028 ended up being Newsom v. Ron DeSantis v. JD Vance -- then it would be a vote splitter and Gavin Newsom would coast to victory much like Bill Clinton did when Perot played spoiler.
