A Kentucky pastor has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest for requesting photos from an 11-year-old girl who attended his church.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office announced in a June 25 Facebook postthat two days earlier, it had been “contacted by the family of an 11-year-old female juvenile who wanted to report that the female had been solicited for photos of her body from the pastor of her church.” Following an investigation, detectives determined that Pastor Clarence Barry Hungerford, 58, of Mayfield, had sent messages to the underage girl requesting the photos.

Following his arrest, Hungerford admitted to contacting the girl and destroying his cell phone in an effort to hide the evidence. Hungerford was charged with tampering with physical evidence and unlawful use of electronic means within the Commonwealth to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities.

Here's what I dont get.

1. He admitted to tampering with evidence and to requesting these photos yet he pleads not guilty? How does that make any sense? Doesn't he realize hes going too be found guilty and receive a larger time in prison than if he just plead guilty and took his bumps? I mean he CLEARLY did it, admitted to doing it, and any jury is going to take less than 5 minutes convicting him why waste the courts time and resources?

2. He admitted to all of it yet he was put on administrative leave. Why wasn't he fired. Most pastors who commit acts like this especially here in the PCA would be fired immediately yet, somehow this baptist church wants to keep a pastor who has committed such a outrageous sin thats now been exposed out in public? Horrendous!

What ever happened to the idea that the priest or the representative of God to the people was to be above reproach. Aman of good reputation in the community before they are given such authority.

Paul told Timothy not to be too hasty with appointing bishops and priests. It seems like the modern church has become way too hasty.
