But you probably wouldn't be able to do that in a controlled economy. I really can't see why you would want one.

Why would I be in a controlled economy? I have no incentive to rock the boat.

They believe in free market capitalism except where some goods and services are delivered by the government or by private utilities, but where government remains effectively democratic.
Its rhe except part that is rhe problem. Because under rhe socialist ideal the except slowly morphs into most things where people are dependent upon it.

The government can claim democratic, but people once dependent always vote for dependence. And as long as the government doesn't turn evil, then people are to dependant and dont know how to act independent. Freedom and responsibility is sacrificed for security feom responsibility and lack of freedom of choices.

Because it was found that laissez-faire capitalism does not work, and forgive me if that isn't what you mean by "free market capitalism."
I don't know of anyone anymore that would advocate for that.

Complete laissez-faire never works.

We do need a system with SOME regulation. Including regulation to make sure the free market is actually free and not controlled by certain entities which restrict the free market.

I don't know. You seem to have succeeded in a relatively free market, but then you say you don't need (want?) free markets. The alternative is controlled markets. Is that what you want?

Debating Socialism v. Capitalism is almost as bad as debating religion.
Right. The debate never really gets going because it breaks down over definitions.

Yup. Then you get into splitting hairs on what they "actually" mean. At which point, the conversation goes circular, entering into a never ending battle-loop.

I call it a code 404.

A fun rabbit hole to jump down, would be on why Capitalism and Socialism seem to "converge" in the end. Or why the far left, and the far right seem to 'come together' at the fringes, like a horse shoe, as if they're attracted in one way, but yet, polar opposite at the same time.

It's a strange phenomenon.

All authoritarian economic systems are similar. The only difference is who has the authority, but you can be sure it will never be the working class. I don't care whether it's an oligarch or a commissar, I don't want either one. You can call it socialism or neoliberal capitalism, you can try to drive us into bondage with the stick or lead us with the carrot, but I don't want to go. The only hope for the working class is free enterprise capitalism which both the Republicans and the Democrats are working ceaselessly to destroy. I am particularly disappointed because so many Christians have painted right wing authoritarian economics as the "Christian" thing to do.
