In short:
Landers, seeing that immigrants were called to hearings, learning the cases against them were
dismissed, were then apprehended by ICE agents on the way out the door, ready to deport them without due process.

As many churches encourage volunteers to do, Landers would accompany frightened immigrants, walking out arm and arm with them to protect them.

ICE noticed his presence and decided they would show them what happens to American citizens who prevent unconstitutional deportations from occurring.

Fortunately, Gov. Kathy Hochul got the charges dropped.

It's indeed a tragic situation when the government is the malefactor and those who try to protect others from injustice and harm are the heroes--but that's the situation we're in right now.

When a government is acting immorally, sometimes resistance is the only ethical alternative.

I applaud people like Comptroller Lander, putting his freedom on the line to bring much needed attention to the Trump Administration's unconstitutional deportations without due process.

I wonder if you had similar objections towards the unconstitutional and immoral actions of various state governments during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Please don't promote conspiracy theories. Saving lives is not immoral.

FYI, we had Covid in our house last week. My son got it at work. My husband got it and it attacked his nervous system. He was hospitalized two days but thank goodness IV steroids knocked out the shakes and speech slurs. I caught it, and having been vaccinated in October, had a mild case.

This may seem like nothing, but we spent $60 on 10 Covid tests (we still have a few left.) They used to be free. And we can afford tests... but when tests cost money lots of people won't spend $6 a test to get tested, and they spread it to one person, who spreads it to another person, and so on. Like my husband who wound up in the hospital with neurological symptoms that were terrifying.

What you call unconstitutional and immoral I call compassionate and life-saving. What I call the people who refuse and badmouth vaccines is immoral.

If you were sending your spouse off in an ambulance and rushing to the hospital because of a recent Covid outbreak maybe you'd feel the same.

The COVID-19 vaccine almost killed my wife. I am not exaggerating.
