May 29, 2025 Editor, The News-Gazette:
The current talking point made by Republicans is that they are only cutting waste and fraud from the Medicaid program. There is certainly significant Medicaid fraud, but the reality is that fraud committed by Medicaid recipients is a drop in the bucket compared to fraud committed by medical providers and practices. Most of this fraud consists of billing Medicaid
for services or treatments that were not provided, or billing for more expensive treatments than those actually used. A quick look at the federal cases of Medicaid fraud for 2024 (https://www.justice.gov/criminal/criminal-fraud/ health
-care-fraud-unit/2024national-hcf-case-summaries) totaled $515 million, and all of these cases were against providers. There is not a single case against recipients.

Republicans should be we aware of the corporate fraud with Medicare and Medicaid, considering that one of their own senators, Rick Scott, was CEO of a company that the DOJ-scandal-re found committed $1.7 billion dollars in Medicare fraud. Rick Scott's connection to massive Medicare fraud scandal resurfaces

as long as the cuts to medicaid and such go to pay for tax cuts for the rich the cuts are themselves fraud.
While and often repeated byline from the far left - there is not an ounce of truth to the statement -
Maybe it's needed to be done to actualy balance the budget, but no cuts should be allowed without actually lowering the deficit.
Eliminating the fraud (not making cuts) - will help lower the deficit.

The budget isn't balanced by the Big, Ugly Abomination. And this EO is separate from that.

oh no I get that, my point stil stands, that claiming this will help the deficit while tax cuts are being given out far more then cut won't help anything.

Three months later the GOP passes a bill that cuts medicaid and Trump signs it.

Turns out that "far left Dem" was absolutely correct.
Cutting Medicaid fraud is a bad thing? Requiring able bodied people to work is a bad thing?

But hey! it makes a sound bite that matches the narrative on the left!

1) They are cutting funding that keep rural hospitals a float. 2) Medicaid fraud, as everyone who has been curious of that type of fraud, takes place on the application end. You know, like Senator Rick Scott of Florida, United Healthcare, and those CEO folks Trump pardoned.

So one more time. That "far left commentator" was correct.

Shame on you, CNN.

Legislators can't sign a bill saying they will cut $900 million in Medicaid funds without having a strong plan to make cuts.

Why is this happening? Is CNN the next victim of a frivolous, groundless Trump lawsuit? His unscrupulous, unethical attempt to interfere with the first amendment because an anchor hurt his feelings has got to stop.

Medicaid fraud is when a provider charges the Medicaid program in its State for services/procedures that were not (in fact) performed, not people receiving healthcare that they don’t qualify for.
