This really doesn’t matter because we have a two party system whether we like it or not and in the end most voters will vote with the two dominant parties. It’s not like she will vote with Republicans because she left the Democratic Party.

It matters no more than former Republicans who left the party because of Trump culture but still vote with the Republican Party at election time.

While Trump takes a flamethrower to democracy how does Dem leadership respond? Like this:

It doesn‘t. "So we sent him a very strong letter just the other day asking eight very strong questions about why this isn‘t just a pretext."​

Two-term Vice President Dick Cheney (Architect of last 50 years conservatism) last year advised Americans not to vote for President Trump. Despite Cheney's advice, Americans elected President Trump. Considering this, it is uncertain whether the opinion of a press secretary will influence the voters' decision.
