Were these the same Catholics smuggling in illegals?
They were Catholics dedicated to Jesus Christ and spreading the Gospel, and who were pro-life. That put a big target on their head.

Like any other Church, Catholicism has its share of extremists. During the COVID pandemic, for example, there were Catholic anti-vax extremists claiming that vaccines were developed using stem cell research. Although Pope Francis reassured Catholics that they were morally acceptable.
Why Catholic leaders oppose vaccine mandates and “religious exemptions”
And these are the kind of religious extremists that the Catholic League tends to champion.
In the meantime, Catholic Churches and universities have been threatened with a far greater danger.
Another pastor in Queens, the Rev. Manuel Rodriguez of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic church, said many of his 17,000 parishioners are undocumented and have children who attend the parish’s school.

“We have children who are shaking literally and crying,” Rodriguez said. “They know that at any time their mom, their dad, could be arrested and they could come back from school, and they could be gone.”

“Undocumented people go to church every week to pray that they can make ends meet, so they can pay the rent for their families,” he said. “People are trying to survive, and this is just putting them through hell.”
If the Catholic League sincerely wants to protect the "religious and civil rights of Catholics" they should be at Our Lady of Sorrows Church where children in school are shaking and crying believing their mom and dad could be arrested and they would go home to an empty house.
Hypocrites!

Those particular Catholics would have gotten a pass from the Biden administration. The ones who got in trouble with the Biden administration were the ones who opposed abortion. Some of them got swatted.

Mr. Wray should be arrested.
If given their history of child sexual abuse and hiding child abuse, to me if there is any group who should be arrested, they reside in the Catholic church. I will take this Dr Donohue "christianity is under attack by everyone" claim with one large grain of salt. But if there is any spying to be had on a large group, it should have been done upon the Catholic Church given their long history of child sexual abuse.

It's amazing how they can be both the villain or the hero depending upon the needs of the narrative.

Bigotry is no reason to spy on any group of people, again the major reason this illegal spying took place is because the Catholic Church is the leader in the pro-life movement. Many minorities have suffered because of prejudice being used to justify unethical and immoral actions, it was used to justify slavery and is used today to promote antisemitism.

Ahh, Bill Donahue, the infamous League of One, always on the ready to defend the Church from any perceived slight and push forward attacks on any he feels are are enemies of the Church. All in the name of the Church with little evidence they regard him as their champion.

Hey Bill, it's a big church and it has some radical members. Inevitably some of them will be investigated by the FBI.

Doesn't negate my point. It went on for years in full knowledge of the church leading to hiding those who were sexually abusing children. Never mind a spy. People within that org didn't even have the decency to speak up. Your source; this is the same guy and the same org who vehemently denied any child sexual abuse was occurring in the Catholic church. The same org that decrees a war on Christmas; who argues love has nothing to do with marriage, but rather procreation.

Your sources. Try to do better next time.

I like how you justified the Biden administration spying on Catholics. Maybe we can spy on Buddhists or even Seventh Day Adventists the same way.

With over a billion Catholics, no doubt there are some extremists. That any large religion or group or race has some extremists is not a valid legal reason to spy upon that group, race, or religion.

Please no slander. It's a falsehood that he "denied any child sexual abuse was occurring in the Catholic Church," these forums are not the place for such false attacks. This thread is about a story on the Biden administration spying on Catholics, if you are pro-abortion just say so, I can understand why people who push abortion do not want to acknowledge spying on the Catholic Church. Nevertheless it happened, and it is against the law. I am very much against the two-tiered justice system where people who abuse the civil rights of others, as the FBI did, are not held accountable under the law. A person's love or hate of an individual or organization should have nothing to do with treatment of rights under the law.

But since it is an extremist Catholic group, the Catholic League, who is issuing this report, I am sure it is greatly exaggerated. It is to their advantage to hoodwink people into believing that Biden, a daily Mass-goer, who said "God love ya'" as frequently as Trump said #!*#!!, was more immoral than someone who is grifting his way around the globe and stuffing his pockets with gold.

True Catholic groups don't cherry pick a few hot button issues and ignore two Popes who are shouting from the rooftops about the human rights violations against immigrants, refugees, and the desperately poor. The Catholic League ignores those issues because it would demand something of their supporters. Men will never have abortions, and few of them have gay or trans issues. It's so easy for people to pick a few issues that will never demand any personal sacrifice on their parts and pat themselves on the back for being so virtuous. That's how I see the Catholic League.

No slander. Dear Bill staunchly defended the Catholic Church come child abuse.
Secondly, all this was investigated by the Inspector General and found no targeting.

Not surprising - probably because his own church denied him the Sacraments because he supports the murder of children in the womb and homosexual marriage. Gotta get back at them somehow.

That's slander. You have provided no evidence whatsoever that he "denied any child sexual abuse was occurring in the Catholic Church," Cite a location, date, and time.
