If you think about it, "pieces of the True Cross" were kind of a proto-cryptocurrency.
They sold enough pieces of the cross to build Noah's Ark

Oh good grief, the guy eas hanging around a bunch of illegals. Gee, if I was hanging around a bunch of illegals I would expect to get picked up too. But then I dont do that. Just like I dont hang out with gang bangers or mobsters or anyone else like that.

So spare me the outrage. It was an illegals raid, he was hanging with illegals, including family members and he got swept up. They figured it out and let him go.
That's a silly statement. He was working his job.

A decade ago, I was working for a Fortune 50 company that had contracted scores of illegals for janitorial services. I'm sure the company would claim "We didn't know" if called to account, but I certainly knew they were illegal, and I can't believe I was the smartest guy in the company.

So, if ICE burst in while I was working at my desk and arrested me along with the janitorial service, am I culpable for "hanging around a bunch of illegals" that the company had hired.

BTW, folks, a Real ID does not indicate citizenship.

There are five states that used "Enhanced ID" that does indicate citizenship, but the rest of us need to carry US passports (book or card) if we want to carry evidence of citizenship.

What had he done wrong? He was working his job.
What had he done wrong? He was working his job.
I was referring to him, a US citizen who did nothing wrong.
I've already posted that what he claims happened, if true, was unnecessary and illegal

Sounds like he looked foreign. He should not have been doing that.
They were probably ticked off because he was filming.
That's not illegal though, if what he says is true it's a false arrest

It really didn’t take long to get to the “papers please” stage of our quasi-fascist state.
Not only that, but the "Your papers are no good" phase.

When we went to Vienna I joked to my wife that the Hapsburg's had enough pieces of "the true cross" to make about three crosses. :p

Whats really funny is none of it is gopher wood.

I came here to say this. ^

Some officers really do not like being filmed and for them it falls into the "contempt of cop" category where they will attempt to find anything to make that person's life unpleasant.

I agree with your assessment above. But, I think it unlikely that anything will happen to the officers. It will probably go something like..

"Why did you do what you did officer?"

"Well - he was interfering, and obstructing and we had to check 'em out."

"He had a RealID though, and you said it was fake."

"Ummm...err.. yeah.. in the heat of the moment, in the field, I umm..questioned.. its.. auth..authn.. what's that big word?! I thought th' darn thing was fake!! So, then we cuffed 'em fer our own safety. But after we found out he was a citizen we let him go.....eventually. Even thou we didn't wanna.."

"Good job officers! Carry on!"

Others have pointed out that he was not "hanging around a bunch of illegals", but personally engaged in legal work in the construction industry. I also note that illegals, gang bangers and mobsters are the sort of people Jesus would have spent some of his time with. I'm sorry you consider that beneath you.

This brings up another point. I'm not the only one who has said it. These employers hiring illegals are breaking the law. A raid was made, and illegals rounded up. What happened to those who hired them? Probably nothing.

Look, we've let this go on for so long that no one is concerned about hiring illegals. And workers on these jobs are perfectly fine with working with illegals. Now when we finally decide to Crack down then suddenly everyone who knows they are with illegals, also know there is a chance their site could be raided. And they are taking a chance by being there.

He accepted the risk. And he was picked up. But ICE did their job and after review let him go. And after a review sent the illegals packing. You know, doing their job.

Now I just wish someone would go after the employers. Come on CONGRESS, do your job and fix this. Require employers to confirm that a person here is legally allowed to work here. There already is a mechanism for this. REQUIRE businesses to use it. It would solve a lot the issues.

Congratulations, you're one step closer to understanding why so many of us over here on the left think these actions are racist/xenophobic at heart. If they wanted to actually solve illegal immigration, they'd do something to reduce the incentives to come here in the first place. But they don't. They make lives miserable for the poor brown people just trying to make a living, while letting all the wealthy, white, voting business owners keep on keeping on with their feigned ignorance about their employees' immigration status.
