  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is love divine?

The whole need in evolution is mating and survival of the species.but love promotes monogamy. Love is not required as an evolutionary response. is it divine, I believe the answer is yes. More proof of the existence of God
Imagine life without love. How long would relationships last. How many single mums would their be, that would be evolution not a well structured existence

I think it depends on the specific strategy of each species.

For example spiders do not need any long term relationship, because they lay even thousands of eggs and the survival is in numbers.

On the other hand, for example birds or many mammals have more long term relationships, because their offspring are not so numerous and need longer care from parents.

Biblical love is defined as;

1Co 13:4 Love suffereth long, and is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
1Co 13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
1Co 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
1Co 13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

From this one might see love as selflessness. This is the opposite of survival of the fittest. God didn't create people to see who would be the strongest, but who would recognize the truth that we need the forgiveness of sins found in Christ.

They teach that it's benefical one man has one woman because the man gets that one woman all for himself.

At the end of the day, they teach it's all just chemical reactions. Next time you want to make a poor decision - and I mean really poor decision - & you can't do it, ask yourself is this just a chemical reaction to choose not. If not, you probably haven't wanted to make that poor of a decision before.

1 John talks about how you need to be born from God to love. Sometimes this confuses people. Doesn't everyone love? So is everyone born of God? No, not everyone does. They think it's just chemical reactions.

You are right that God has good reasons for wanting monogamy in human beings. Sometimes people question why doesn't God spell out monogamy as a law in the Bible. I think it's because we know the reasons well enough why it's better. It's even the preferred method for the pagans.
