In honor of my fanmade Charaboms' birthdays this month, I want to share with you a little history about them, along with some never-before-shared drawings! These are some of the oldest characters I still use in my content!
Unfortunately I never dated my artwork back then, so I don't know the exact birthday of any of my Charaboms. However, I recently discovered that Baglion's first drawing was done on the back of a printed page dated May 16, 2007, so today may very well be its birthday!
Beginnings
I tried making a few Charaboms several times before I made the ones I use now, but for some reason they never got far. All of them were drawn once or twice and then forgotten. Nearly all of the Charaboms I've ever made, with the exception of the very earliest ones, had multiple levels (inspired by the GCN game Bomberman Jetters, which I was playing a lot at the time).
Version 1 (2007-2008)
Baglion was the first of my current fanmade Charaboms! Here is the first drawing of it. You may be surprised to find it originally had a different appearance!
Baglion's main level (originally level 3) was given its current design in its second drawing. This is also the first drawing of Baterrta, Unni, Pheonul, and Combina (and some random winged cats).
The first drawing of Unni's second and third levels, where its first level was redesigned. My fakemon Legena and a cartoony Espeon are also there.
I didn't make the rest of my Charaboms until about a year later. This is the first drawing of them, based on Bomberman Jetters' Charabom Select screen. (Pommy is official and not made by me.)
Here are all the levels from version 1 of my Charaboms. As you can see, I was not very creative with names or character design back then.
In version 1 there were seven attributes: Water, Electric, Fire, Leaf, Ice, Underground, and Magic. The last four were made by me and the official Earth attribute was replaced with Leaf, with Underground basically taking its place. Their attributes were completely unbalanced with only one Ice, two Magic, and more Leaf than anything else.
Fun fact: Reda is based on two of my earlier Charaboms that didn't make it, which were red rabbits.

As my skills improved, my Charaboms' uncreative designs began to bother me, so after a while I decided to redesign them. I still was no expert in character design, though.
Pheonul's spelling was changed to Phoenul, Kani's attribute was changed from Electric to Fire, the Leaf attribute was removed and Earth was brought back, but it had abilities like the Grass type in Pokemon (in-game its abilities match the Ground and Rock types).
Four years later, after learning about another game where Charaboms have four levels, I gave seven of mine a fourth level, one for each attribute. One of my fanmade Creatures, Junguar, can also be seen.

Sabra's name was changed to Sabera and Unni's name to Unnikle. Some Charaboms' attributes were changed and an eighth one was added (Air) to make them more balanced. The Underground attribute was removed, Leaf was brought back, and Earth was restored to its official Ground and Rock-type abilities.
My LV.4 Charaboms also received a redesign, and Ultibat was added as the Air-attribute one. Cougrageous's spelling was changed to Cougrages.
That's all I have to share for now! I hope you enjoyed seeing how my Charaboms have changed over the years!
