How disgusting. Christians should be disgusted too. We all know this is for show and that the convicted felon in the White House shares exactly zero "Judeo-Christian" values with any Christian denomination.

He's using Christianity as a prop and a useful tool to shore up his support and power.
Personally, I kinda like him exposing the “moral” Christian right for the power hungry political opportunists they really are.

While he was a believer before the assassination attempt as he has said he is more of a believer now.

Doesn't matter. The Christians who support him have repudiated it, too. All that matters is that Trump continue to advance their political agenda.

I could believe that if I could believe the assassination attempt wasn't orchestrated to boost his numbers.

I wonder what Trump is going to get for selling the country.

“We’re bringing back religion in our country, and we’re bringing it back quickly and strongly because for America to be a great nation, we must always be one nation under GOD,” the president said during his remarks.
The president paid homage to the sacred Judeo-Christian values that formed a solid foundation for America’s founding, praising the importance of prayer in America and vowing to protect religious liberty while in the White House.

God be praised.

A man who declares he has never sought God's forgiveness claiming he is “bringing back religion”.

Anyone who believes such a claim does not understand Christianity. Christianity was established by God, who humbled himself to the cross, not by a prideful man who cannot seek God's forgiveness.

Asking for God's forgiveness is fundamental to being considered a believer in Christianity. President Trump has publicly stated that he has never sought God's forgiveness. Therefore, President Trump is not a believer in the Christian faith.

The one I like is "we elected a president, not a pastor." Another thoughtless one-liner that gets repeated without any critical thought.

Regardless of whether he is a president or a pastor, he still claims to be a Christian. And the bible says that we are to hold believers more accountable than non-believers. But that's not the pattern of the Christians who defend Trump. He clearly violates the ethics and values which are outlined in the New Testament, yet they do not hold him accountable for that. But non-believers are much more readily scrutinized.

It is amazing how large parts of the Christian culture in America throw around these catch phrases which have no basis in scripture, and which are often antithetical to scripture and the Christian faith. It is indicative of a faith which, instead of fighting against "principalities and powers", is purely tribal in its motivations.

I hear so much about Christian discernment on this web site.

Where has that gone? Was it ever there?

Totally. Trump is terrifically good at discerning leverage points in the American psyche. Some skeptics would say thats the same category of insight the promoters of Jesus exploited.

I'm guessing that the whole façade of "religious freedom" will be subject to the usual selective enforcement early?

Or are we going to wait until the first school plays the Adhan over its PA system before we get the "that's not what we meant by religious freedom" screams?

With a Christian Nationalist to run it. I guess we know now which religions will have freedom in thiis country and which won't. But it's been a long time coming--as far back as 1988 when Pat Robertson was running for President one of the planks in his platform was that the Bill of Rights (including the 1st Amendment) was intended to apply to "Bible-believing" Christians only.

Now the government can assure that only the right one is praised.
Sad but true.
