  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Approval rating underwater among all other religious demographics

President Donald Trump and his policies have majority support among white Evangelical Protestants even as nearly all other religious demographics have expressed reservations about some or all of his policies, according to a new poll.

Pew Research Center released a report Monday highlighting President Donald Trump’s approval rating among members of various religious denominations as the first 100 days of his second term in office come to a close. The data in the report is based on responses collected from 3,589 Americans between April 7-13 and has a margin of error of +/-1.8 percentage points.

Respondents include 496 white Evangelical Protestants, 351 white non-Evangelical Protestants, 220 black Protestants, 428 white Catholics, 201 Hispanic Catholics and 1,079 religiously unaffiliated voters. Overall, Trump has an approval rating of 40% with the American public, while 59% disapproved of his job performance.

DOGE’s agenda is wildly popular across the political spectrum, and so is the rest of President Trump’s agenda.”

A new poll shows large support among Americans for cutting reckless government spending and for Congress to pass a border bill before the April recess.

The poll, sponsored by Tea Party Patriots Action and conducted by McLaughlin and Associates, was conducted on January 28 and consists of responses from 1,000 general election voters. The poll has a margin of error of 3.1%.

In results that suggest broad support for Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency’s efforts, about four out of five voters agreed that the U.S. government should “rein in Washington’s reckless borrowing and spending” to tamp down inflation, according to poll results obtained by The Daily Wire. Over 60% of respondents said that Congress should take action to secure the border before it breaks for a 17-day recess in April.

“The American people want to shrink the size and scope of the federal government, and they want to rein in Washington’s reckless borrowing and spending. That’s exactly what Elon Musk and his colleagues at DOGE are doing,” Tea Party Patriots founder Jenny Beth Martin told The Daily Wire in a statement.

“The poll we commissioned shows they’re doing exactly what the public wants — 79% of Americans want to ‘rein in Washington’s reckless borrowing and spending.’ This includes 69% of Independents and 65% of Democrats,” she said.

Another strong majority of voters, 71%, support Congress taking up legislation to extend or make permanent the 2017 tax cuts of President Donald Trump’s first administration. Many of the provisions of the Tax Cuts And Jobs Act, one of the signature pieces of legislation from Trump’s first term, are scheduled to expire by the end of this year, effectively raising the tax burden on the average American.

In a result that suggests confidence in the outcome of the past election, just over half of respondents, 50.3%, said that they believe they will be better off in four years than they are now. Under 40% said the opposite.

“DOGE’s agenda is wildly popular across the political spectrum, and so is the rest of President Trump’s agenda,” Martin told The Daily Wire. “This is why he was elected in the first place. Our poll shows that congressional Republicans and the Trump Administration should move full steam ahead and ignore the whining and filibustering of Beltway elites.”

One of Musk’s latest moves, to audit the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), has garnered stiff opposition from Democrats who allege that Trump and Musk are endangering humanitarian programs funded by U.S. taxpayers.

Musk’s investigation into USAID has revealed a slew of spending programs that the White House says run counter to Trump’s agenda, such as funding and exporting DEI and trans ideology projects to countries such as Serbia and Peru.

Most White American Evangelicals have opted to worship a false god.
This is the most incorrect post that I have probably ever seen on these forums.

I came across a Pew Research survey from 2021. There is a very interesting point made in their analysis of the data.

So, it's really just identity politics.
Identity politics is something that the Democratic Party has pushed for decades.

I really do think that you are a sincere Christian that loves God and country so I hope you don't mind I share a few thoughts. I will say too that I love your idealism and optimism. Still, if things turn real negative, think about alternatives. I am not saying give up, or lose faith, but I am saying be prepared for changes you did not expect. The USA is in for some real testing. GDP down now and no money (except borrowed) for a stimulus plan (which has yet to even be discussed) Inflation has not hit the target or less since Feb 2021. Doge is way short in its goal, and 70 days or so left until tariffs hike. I gave Trump the benefit of the doubt, but as a Christian the only real alignment is his great support of Israel and conservative judges thus far. The economy, foreign relations and some of the immigration polices are going to hurt the USA, more than help. The other day Trump said that China would eat the tariff costs. Totally unrealistic. Tariffs that high are more equal to an embargo. Trump's management style is to purge those who disagree, another issue that will hurt us. I always figured the coming failure was according to God's will. The status quo of many evangelicals is not the biblical Christianity that Jesus seeks, it is too self centered, too money focused, too undiscerning, too distracted from God. So now we have the mirror of that; a focus on America first, prosperity and policies that even God may uproot. I think there will be new voices and direction for the church that are far closer to it's roots. So its a good thing, if you see things fall apart. Trust God and hang on. I am not saying that you or any particular individual has a lack in their walk. I am saying that some of the Trump agenda is toxic. That is the part to be careful of. God could have judged the liberal Presidents. But in Trump you have much of the church backing and it is the church leadership that God seeks to change.

I had typed a lengthy reply, looked at it, then deleted it. It won't change anyone's mind, so what's the point?
I probably should do that more but I like to air things out and get it on record. I do consider all views too. God bless.

There was a lot of damage to our country done during the Biden administration. Trump won the election because he addressed the deep concerns of the people, the deliberate attempt to violate our border laws and flooding the country with illegals, the government overreach against freedom of religion and freedom of speech and over-regulation of our economy, the two-tiered justice system, government waste, national security issues, and a foreign policy of appeasement. Trump has done an amazing job so far. Repairing the damage is a monumental task.

Thanks for your response. I address some of that here, and go beyond to look at faith the the situation of the USA in general. Nothing personal in any of this, just a perspective that any reader can examine.

The justice system is still two-tiered, it just shifting to favoring the rich in nearly every aspect. Lower taxes, more evasion of taxes with less IRS resources, the lack of prosecution in bribery and the expanded pardoning of certain rich criminals that were corrupt, are prime examples. Is it great too, that all Americans get taxed in the form of tariffs so that mostly the rich can enjoy lower taxes?

As to foreign policy, Trump thus far, just appeases a different side in the Ukraine/Russia conflict. He is better for the Middle East, but is irritating allies which reduces the security and clout of the USA. An example of this includes the recent election of a liberal again in Canada. The decline of the dollar and the rise of gold as investment flees. Another example is Trump's negative comments and trolling of Canada. This swung an election that favored the more conservative party by many points to the liberals. As the AP puts it Trump "lost badly." His policie and remarks "reversed the fortunes of the Liberals, who had been expected to be shown the door by an electorate weary of their decade in power, but instead cast themselves as fighting for Canada’s very existence." https://apnews.com/article/trump-ca...lievre-trade-de99be6f8074cc7b2dae4d049216e0bc

So at least some of these items are are objective examples of Trump failures or the continuation of a two tiered system. No president is perfect but since evangelicals are supportive of Trump, they should be quick to point out more errors and help correct the Trump administrations policies for the betterment of America. Failing to do so will not only hurt Trump and the USA it may very well reflect poorly on the Christians who supported him. The question that is the most intriguing is" Will God support the Trump administration character and policies for the next four years? Also, is Trump in place for judgment on America? or is he in place to bring prosperity? I would add which is better for the church? I hope everyone thinks about this.

It is worthwhile also to examine the foundations of faith. That in God, can a Christian have faith for a seemingly negative event? I offer this translation of Heb 11:1

Hebrews 11:1 (God's Word Translation) 1 Faith assures us of things we expect and convinces us of the existence of things we cannot see.

Is faith something we always hope for or is it what we expect? Notice how Noah was "moved by fear" about what God gave him faith for. No one really hopes for a flood, nor would anyone "hope" for any judgment from at least a fleshly sense. This is further illustrated in these other events that were not really hoped for but yes, they were expected. These are heroes of faith expecting this.

Hebrews 11:37 (KJV)
37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

I do caution any reader to be careful here. The devil nearly always uses fear or lust for someone to have "faith" in the future. His claims though can be fought with the armor of God. Any claim that has no basis in scripture should be rejected. For instance, there is little in scripture that promises God to bless America. There are scriptures though for your individual blessing. Thus, faith for an individual too is different than faith at the national level. God, actually can direct our individual earnings, savings, investments, giving and planning for the future outside of the national level.

I just try to discern things the best I can. Could I really have faith that times ahead are quite challenging for the USA? Is that faith from God, or perhaps just my education and flesh? Likewise, I will ask those reading, what does your faith really say? Are things going to get better for the USA as Trump promises? Did covid go away in 3 months? Did Musk cut even close to 2 trillion? Nowhere in any econ book in the last century will you find that tariffs are the way to prosperity. Yet Trump claims "We're going to take in hundreds of millions of dollars in tariffs and we're going to become so rich you're not going to know where to spend all that" Really? The first part is right. Tariff revenue is soaring, but the other side of that, the price hikes are coming. Tariffs are not going to make most rich.

So while I would like to believe that in many ways the next years are prosperous I ask myself would it be better for the church if things really did change and become negative for the USA? Would it humble and make us and more future converts call out and be dependent on God? Do those who expect prosperity for the entire nation and declare it, really have the evidence of things not seen? Is that the kind of "prosperity" that will change things for the better?

So, I will say I am fearful in the Noah like way, in faith, that America is facing obstacles that are negative and that God in His providence will humble us so that we and many unbelievers will call out for His grace and mercy. This however, does not mean I am right or proven in anyway. The evidence though will show either way soon enough.

If I had just hope, I would say prosper the USA and have a mighty revival. but is that scriptural for the USA today?

2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV) 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

James 4:6 (KJV) 6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
