‘Twas the night before Easter,
And all through the land,
The people were shopping,
And making their plans.

Their garments were ready,
All neatly designed
With trimmings a plenty,
But gloves hard to find.

Their baskets were filled up
With colorful eggs,
And candies, and chocolates,
That many did crave.

The morning arrived and
They went to their church,
They sang with the music,
And for truth they searched.

They listened to the preacher
Expecting to hear
The story of Easter,
That he’d make that clear.

But what if he told you
Of its pagan roots?
The worship of idols
Like Santa with boots?

The blending of pagan
With worship of Christ
Forbidden by God is
A truth taken heist.

Remember that Jesus
Took our sins on Him,
So Him we would worship
And now live for Him.

You are a talented writer!

Thank you for sharing!

Many Christian holidays were placed on top of pagan celebrations. They celebrate completely different things, but they do seem to be the same time of year.

One of my childhood friends was raised Wiccan. She hated Christian holidays because they covered hers up.

I am a Wiccan gone Christian (been Christian since 2012) , and as such celebrate Christian holidays. However, one cannot deny the oddity of it all.

Neckelehamiah, Thank you for your encouraging words. Glory to God! According to the Scriptures and the words of God (don't have Bible reference right now for you) it is a sin against God to mix the worship of idols (other gods) with the worship of God. So on Christmas so many Christians worship Santa Claus (who pretends to have the attributes of God) alongside the "worship" (which God does not call worship) of God. Same with Easter, they make a big deal out of the Easter Bunny and eggs and baskets and new clothes and religious rituals which God does not require nor does he desire. So many people will post memes on social media saying "Jesus died" or "He is risen" but they don't even mention him on social media the rest of the year. It is a holiday tradition, but it is not true worship of God, not the kind of worship he requires which is our lives surrendered to him in the forsaking of our sins and in obedience to his commands and in sharing his gospel message with others. The big danger of celebrating God/Christ Jesus alongside these pagan holidays is that God/Jesus Christ is not the main focus and often these celebrations end up being empty religious rituals combined with merry making and all that is of the flesh and not of God. You are one hundred percent correct!

So many people only look to God on holidays. Some because they have to follow traditions. Some because they feel obligated.

And others because they want to become devoted to God.

It’s very sad that so many fall away so quickly.

It is easy to say Jesus I love you or Jesus forgive me. But living in biblical truth is not an easy journey.

It’s not for the meek at heart.

Happy Easter to you my friend.

I hope your day is wonderful!

You are correct, for it is the narrow way that is hard that few find. Too many are on the broad path, which is easy, but which ends in destruction, not in life eternal with God.
