  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

“The post-election protest process preserves the fundamental right to vote in free elections ‘on equal terms,’” the 2-1 majority opinion states. “This right is violated when ‘votes are not accurately counted [because] [unlawful] [ ] ballots are included in the election results.’ … The inclusion of even one unlawful ballot in a vote total dilutes the lawful votes and ‘effectively “disenfranchises”’ lawful voters” (brackets original).

Voter identification, chain of custody, and counting all of the votes in one day are cornerstones of fair elections.

I agree with this sentiment. But to count all votes in one day requires to invest in the neccessary infastructure, including enough voting offices and enough election helpers. I suggest championing this if you value election integrety.

California regularly takes weeks to count votes. For them it's not a matter of a lack of infrastructure or enough helpers, it is the rules they have set up for their system.

I also don't see why there is so much resistance to paper ballots. Germany votes with paper ballots and we have our results the same night, with maybe a couple of outliers trickling in over the next couple of days, which I think is acceptable.

I agree. Outliers is no problem, it's the built in long process that can create problems.

Federal judge says results of North Carolina court race with Democrat ahead must be certified

Myers wrote that Griffin’s formal protests after the election, which were rejected by the State Board of Elections, [but accepted by the court in the OP] constituted efforts to make retroactive changes to the voting laws that would arbitrarily disenfranchise only the voters who were targeted by Griffin.
And would have gotten away with it if not for these kids and their odd dog! activist judges!
