  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Orange County ratifies agreement to cooperate with ICE

Orange County commissioners approved an agreement Tuesday to federalize county jail officers to hold and transfer inmates who are accused of violating immigration law.

Under the agreement, 17 county jail staff will be trained by the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency to serve as warrant service officers to detain and turn over inmates who ICE accuses of being in the country illegally, according to Orange County Corrections Chief Louis A. Quiñones.

Last month, the Republican-led state Legislature passed a sweeping immigration law that forces local governments to enter into cooperation agreements with federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, called 287g agreements.

Because Orange was the last of Florida’s 67 counties to ratify the agreement, Demings said he feared the state would make an example of the county and punish it for non-compliance.

But the two commissioners who voted against ratification – District 1’s Nicole Wilson and District 5’ Kelly Semrad – pushed back, saying the state was trying to intimidate duly elected county leaders.

“Being coerced is not the same as an agreement,’’ said Wilson, an attorney.
Is this concerning cities, counties, or states ridding the sanctuary laws? No vetting whatsoever to allow all these criminals into this country but now they demand vetting to get them out. How utterly insane.

Are you worried about Child labor or what?
I should think my OP and my continued presence in the thread with updates from various states should make it abundantly clear that I am worried about the expansion of child labor to longer hours, fewer restraints on hazardous jobs, and younger children.

Children are just as safe around wood chippers, hay bailing machines, and giant vats of acid as anyone else.

The smaller hands can better reach between the blades to remove obstructions.

Small hands are great, how else can you polish the inside of a 40mm shell? You tell me.

Off-topic. But neither I nor Joe Biden or any other responsible adult is for 'open borders'.
Maybe even more off topic, but I have struggled to understand what exactly "open borders" means.

If it means anything, it means "illegal immigrants freely coming in"

Or purposely mis-calibrating the machines.
But then you would have to buy shells from other factories to fill your orders. That doesn't make money, that sounds like some rookie real estate broker kind of management.

Money is a negotiable kind of asset. The price of officials is cheap.

Why should parents stand in the way of the free market? Arkansan kids yearn to work in Tyson chicken separating factories!
Speaking of chiken pickin'...

Last week, the US Department of Agriculture announced sweeping plans to increase slaughter line speeds at pork and poultry plants — a move that could further endanger workers who already process animals at a breakneck pace and suffer high levels of injury.

How is it off topic? Children came in illegally. They were exploited to "earn money" in ways adult males and females were not.
But neither I nor Joe Biden nor any other responsible adult is for 'open borders'.
Adults were not the only people that came in for exploitation. To pretend Children were not a part of that makes one wonder what you are truly concerned about.

Just give them one rubber-stamp with “DENIED” and call it a day, (which is not a “calendar day” according to Congress).
