National Intelligence Director Gabbard was seemingly more careful with her data than her two male colleagues. She apparently had her own data blocked in the commercial contact search engines that contained the data of Hegseth and Waltz. But her email address was to be found on WikiLeaks and Reddit.

Gabbard’s email address is available in more than 10 leaks. One of those also contains a partial telephone number, which, when completed, leads to an active WhatsApp account and a Signal profile.

To protect the private contact information of the U.S. politicians, DER SPIEGEL is not publishing the telephone numbers, email addresses and passwords it found. Furthermore, no tests were performed to determine if the passwords for the email addresses are still active. DER SPIEGEL informed Gabbard, Hegseth and Waltz of its findings.

If we're talking about email addresses they used in their past jobs/organizations or their personal email addresses, I would not consider that a problem. It's not a problem even if they have "open" business email addresses right now. If they want to deal with all the crank traffic, that's up to them.

However, they should not be doing government business through any of them.

The people interested in breaking the encryption already have a copy of the transmission...they just don't know what it says, which makes it much more difficult to break the encryption.

But if they have a message and find out what it says, it become much easier to break the encryption. It doesn't matter if that particular message contains timely information...they have data useful to decrypt future transmissions.

And they now have some verified "envelope" information as well. This was one of the dismaying things about Hillary Clinton's mishandling of emails. It wasn't just the information of the emails, it was also elements as innocuous as the addressee list. The addressee list verified the names of certain State Department and other Executive Departments who had close association with the very top level. If any of those names show up in future transmissions, that gives veracity to whatever information is in those transmissions.

You never want to verify anything. It may become an important piece of the puzzle tomorrow.

True. Sometimes the best plans on paper don't come to fruition.
As Chuck Hagel said in 2007: “People say we’re not fighting for oil. Of course we are.”

Despite the Dems and George Soros crowd having their hand picked Iraqi successor ready to go, those darn Iranians had other plans.

Judge orders Trump administration to preserve Signal chat on Yemen strikes​

A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to preserve the contents of the chat in which top national security officials used the Signal app to discuss military strikes in Yemen as they were taking place earlier this month.​
​
U.S. District Judge James Boasberg ordered the top cabinet officials named in a lawsuit by the government transparency group American Oversight to retain any messages sent and received over Signal between March 11 and March 15.​
