Since you aren't a Democrat, I don't agree with your analysis. Trump supporters seem to be oblivious--so far--to the huge groundswell of anger that is growing each day.
On April 1, Matt Gaetz' Congressional seat will be filled. That's the Florida panhandle, a huge Republican stronghold. And yet the Democrat is running only 5 points behind the Republican, and gaining each day, in a district that went for Trump by 30%.
All over the US, in every state, Democrats are winning state legislative and other positions in Republican districts, because of the sense of absolute betrayal they feel at the growing disasters our country is facing.
Remember the movie "Network?" "I'm mad as he11 and I'm not going to take it anymore!" That is the growing mood in America. When you're that mad (justifiably and sensibly) you don't want Schumer leading the opposition. You want a Bernie Sanders or the two young Congress members he is mentoring: AOC and Greg Casar. It will be a nightmare trying to get back the basic services a huge majority of Americans count on, buried under an avalanche of Musk and Gen Z callous carelessness.
