In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

J6 Prison Choir to Perform at Kennedy Center​

After installing himself as chairman of the Kennedy Center and firing several members of its board of trustees, Donald Trump has promised a new “Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture.” We’re now beginning to get a sense of what that vision looks like, and it will apparently involve members of the J6 Prison Choir.

“I talked to Ambassador Ric Grenell last night, and — the J6 choir is going to play the Kennedy Center for a night in honor of their families,” Bannon claimed, before suggesting they also use the evening as an opportunity to put the “elites” in the “D.C. gulag for one night.”

As for Bannon's gesture, it's too close for comfort to Nazism for some on the far right.

Bannon denies making Nazi salute as French far-right leader cancels speech​

Jordan Bardella, a leader of France’s far-right National Rally party, canceled a speech he was set to give at CPAC, citing the gesture as the reason in a statement, Politico reported.

In his statement, Bardella said a CPAC speaker had “allowed himself, as a provocation, to make a gesture referring to Nazi ideology.” He continued, “Therefore, I have taken the immediate decision to cancel my scheduled speaking engagement at the event this afternoon.”

Peter Hayes, a history professor emeritus at Northwestern University, said Bannon’s gesture was “not good for him or the rest of us.”

“A true Nazi would have held the pose longer, but at minimum it’s a form of dog-gesturing, what to physical expression dog-whistling is to oral [expression],” Hayes wrote in an email.

A Musk surrogate said that Musk was giving the Italian fascist salute, but then later blamed it on autism.

Andrea Stroppa, a confidant of Musk who has connected him with far-right Italian PM Giorgia Meloni, was reported by Italian media to have posted the clip of Musk with the caption: "Roman Empire is back starting from Roman salute".

Stroppa later deleted his post, Italian media said. He later posted that "that gesture, which some mistook for a Nazi salute, is simply Elon, who has autism, expressing his feelings by saying, 'I want to give my heart to you'".

When I read it, it almost came off as being demeaning.
