  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The level of ignorance on this issue is astounding.

Putin doesn't need to come to the table. He's gotten what he wanted. And he'll take more. Zelensky has no cards. Except the US right now. Rhe goal.is to get Putin to the table and you won't do that by doing what the progressives and talking about. You just get more of the same. More dollars spent, more lives lost and more of Ukraine falling to the Russians.

Progressives have NO workable plan to end the war. All rhe progressives have is hatred. Hatred for Trump and a deaire to destroy him. Hatred for Putin and a desire to destroy him as well. And they are willing to burn down everything over it.
That's about the size of it.

The video is pretty clear. Zalensky spent a great deal of time talking while Trump listened. Then Zalensky decided to negotiate in front of the press instead of in the negotiating room.

Yup Vance decided to jump in and defend Trump and the US. But he and Trump were correct. There was a deal that was ready to be signed. Then apparently Zalensky decided to listen to Democrats he visited before the meeting and blow up the deal.

In his own words....."Putin went through a hell of a lot with me."

Trump: “What if anything? What if a bomb drops on your head right now? Okay, what if they broke it? I don‘t know. They broke it with Biden because Biden didn‘t respect him. They didn‘t respect Obama. They respect me. Let me tell you, Putin went through a hell of a lot with me. He went through a phony witch hunt where they used him and Russia, Russia, Russia, Russia ... You ever hear of that deal? That was a phony. That was a phony Hunter Biden, Joe Biden scam. Hillary Clinton, shifty Adam Schiff, it was a Democrat scam. And he had to go through that. And he did go through it. We didn‘t end up in a war. And he went through it. He was accused of all that stuff. He had nothing to do with it. It came out of Hunter Biden‘s bathroom. It came out of Hunter Biden‘s bedroom. It was disgusting. And then they said, oh, oh, the laptop from hell was made by Russia. The 51 agents The whole thing was a scam. And he had to put up with that. He was being accused of all that stuff. All I can say is this: he might have broken deals with Obama and Bush, and he might have broken them with Biden. He did maybe, maybe he didn‘t. I don‘t know what happened, but he didn‘t break them with me. He wants to make a deal…

Hatred for Trump and a deaire to destroy him. Hatred for Putin and a desire to destroy him as well.
Read those last 2 lines very slowly and carefully, and ask yourself how these 2 got so aligned?

Everyone wants peace in the long term - but Europe seems to get that Putin CANNOT be rewarded for his illegal invasion or he'll just use a ceasefire to gather his forces and then do it again! Hitler went for the Sudetenland, the west blinked. Then the rest of Czechoslovakia, the west blinked. Then finally Poland! Oh great... WW2!

There's only one way to deal with imperialistic dictators. That's stand the line!
So far it's the Ukrainians. They're standing the line.
We've just got to support them while they still have the fight in them!
NO NATO troops will enter Ukraine. That's a red line.
But NATO weaponry and aid can.
Putin doesn't want WW3 - and when Trump echoes Putin's sabre rattling by accusing Zelensky of "Going to start WW3!" Trump is just doing Putin's dirty work for him - raising the angst - making Trump's own greedy little colonial plan seem more inevitable.
It's truly revolting.

Question:
Who do you want to have all the farmlands and mineral wealth in the 20% of Ukraine that Putin has illegally taken so far? Russia or the West?

Question:
Why are your cheering on Trump's 'deal' - which is a shakedown of Ukraine that will weaken the west?

Question:
Why can't you see how compromised Trump is?

There is *increasing* evidence that as far back as the 1980’s the KGB started working on Trump. They realised what a weak and needy little narcissist he was. They played to it; told him he was GREAT; told him he should go into politics! He married a Russian bride in 1977, visited Moscow in 1987, then came home and took out a full page ad in the papers attacking NATO funding!
‘The perfect target’: Russia cultivated Trump as asset for 40 years – ex-KGB spy
They buttered him up!
...“Trump melted at once. He is an emotional person, somewhat impulsive. He needs recognition. And, of course, when he gets it he likes it. My father’s visit worked on him [Trump] like honey to a bee.”...
They promised him real estate deals in Moscow - and in his book “The Art of the Deal” he said: “ “I was impressed with the ambition of Soviet officials to make a deal,”
But the real estate deal never happened. The Soviet’s real triumph was feeding Trump’s narcissism - and giving him the idea of running for President!
https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/11/19/trump-first-moscow-trip-215842/
Another KGB agent says they’ve given him the name Krasnov and keep flattering him. All we have are the testimony of 2 KGB agents - no hard evidence from the KGB file. But Trump DID holiday over there in 87, did come back and take out the attack ad on NATO, and given his recent behaviour is consistent with their claims - there’s an argument to be made. Trump is a KGB mark - and they know how to work him!
“Anthony Scaramucci, Trump's former White House communications director, has publicly remarked on the puzzling nature of Trump's affinity for Putin. According to Scaramucci, even senior advisers such as H.R. McMaster, James Mattis, and John Kelly struggled to understand Trump's apparent "hold" or affection for Russia. This ongoing ambiguity has only fueled further speculation about the nature of Trump's relationship with Moscow.”
Ex-Soviet spy makes sensational KGB claim about Trump after Putin invites US President for meeting

Trump has completely aligned his policy on Ukraine with Putin’s! Russia should KEEP all the land that criminal dictator invaded. Putin should be REWARDED for his illegal invasion and war crimes! And so should Trump! He needs a political win out of this - so he badgers Zelensky about minerals even though the EU has contributed MOST of the funding to Ukraine!
Russia now just has to sit back and let Trump do all their dirty work! They cheer him on like an obedient lapdog! Good boy! There’s a good Krasnov!

Oh - I think you misunderstood the source.
That was Trump speaking!
Didn't you recognise the lies from the source?
It's so easy to tell?
Trump is like a plane that's pulled up waiting for a berth.
Nothing's happening, but the engines just keep whining.

That's easy. The left has been pushing that over the last 8+ years now.
Oh great... WW2!

Europe and the US isn't going to start WW3. Which seems that it's what leftists want. Yes he'll violate a ceasefire unless something stops him. Like a peace deal and Americans and American companies in Ukraine.
There's only one way to deal with imperialistic dictators. That's stand the line!

For how long? Until all the Ukranian men are dead? All of Ukrainr is taken over? We didn't win WW2 by holding the line. We won by putting boots on the ground and planes in the air and ships in rhe sea. We destroyed the Germans and Japanese. Almost the way back to their Homeland. Tell me, who among the Europeans and the US is willing to do that? Don't bother. No one is. All this talk about holding the line but only up to a certain point is only going to get you more dead Ukranians, and a loss of a lot of money and equipment. It's not going to win anything.
Who do you want to have all the farmlands and mineral wealth in the 20% of Ukraine that Putin has illegally taken so far? Russia or the West?

Of course we want the Weat to have it. But who is going to attack Russia to get it?
Why are your cheering on Trump's 'deal' - which is a shakedown of Ukraine that will weaken the west?

Why would it weaken the West? If we are there in Ukraine that strengthens us. And it provides some security for Ukraine.
Why can't you see how compromised Trump is?
Why can't you see he's not?

Oh yes and we should definately believe everything that leftist rag Politico publishes and two ex KGB agents (if they really were KGB) says without any confirmation.

Yes it's obvious the hatred for Trump is very strong.

For how long? Until all the Ukranian men are dead?
They still have fight in them. They still want to fight! Who are you to tell them to just sell off 20% of your country? Imagine if this was a fifth of America? Who is Trump to presume this is another one of his real-estate scams - 'Oh and I'll have $500 billion of your minerals - even though we ACTUALLY only paid $76 billion into this venture. You know - the Art of the Deal and all that!"

That's just abhorrent.

How about instead of betraying a new democratic friend, old democratic allies in the strongest military force on the planet - NATO - and proving untrustworthy to old allies - we just fund them! How about instead of cosying up to a dictator - we cosy up to geopolitical allies that protect democracy and freedom?

If we ramp up production and fund Ukraine and supply their needs - then our combined economic strength would wear Russia down.
Russia's economy is only the size of Texas.

The EU is raising their military spending - a lot.
But Trump outright lied in the Oval Office.
The EU has paid the most! The USA is about 40% of this venture.

The EU needs to Federate into a country called Europe so they can streamline their 176 weapons platforms! That's a ridiculously divided military. The irony is for decades America discouraged the EU creating a European Army because it kept them dependent on buying from you guys! But IF they Federate - or at least create a united European army - they would then have the industrial base to streamline their 176 platforms down to 30 like the US. (All that stream-lining creates economies of scale - and drives down the cost per unit.)

But then they won't be buying American-made any more, will they? Will that please Trump?

Well it seems that Zalensky is back at the table. Apparently he sees some wisdom in working something out.

How about instead of cosying up to a dictator - we cosy up to geopolitical allies that protect democracy and freedom?

Fund them? With what money? You have a lot of money in your pockets? How much are you willing to pull out of your bank account for that?

How about NATO funds themselves.
Hey we'll back them up as needed.
If we ramp up production and fund Ukraine and supply their needs - then our combined economic strength would wear Russia down.
Russia's economy is only the size of Texas.

We ramp up? So who's going to pay for this ramping up and supplies? Our country hasn't ramped up much if anything in the last 20 years. We've sure gone into a lot of debt though. Debt that no one seems to want to do anything about. Except maybe add onto it. In this case add onto it for another country.

The EU is raising their military spending - a lot.

Not so fast.

Total bilateral aid to Ukraine by donor & type 2024 | Statista

Ukraine is not part of the US. They are also not part of the Western continent. They are European. You didnt say you were willing to send our troops over there to fight. We have been sending the most military aid to them. They won't win this fight without it. The EU has been spending most on humanitarian aid which won't win the fight. It takes troops and machines of war.

We aren't winning this without war. I understand your position on principle. My heart would tell me that Pustin is a bad guy and Russia should be defeated and kicked out of Ukraine completely.

But NO one has shown the slightest ability or inkling to be able to do that. And I seriously question America's willingness to do what it would take to do that ourselves. Americans have no stomach for anymore war. We wouldn't do what it would take to defeat the Taliban for crying out loud. Americans wouldn't begin to support sending out blood and treasure over there to fight the Ruskies. No matter how bad we hate Putin.

And I don't think Americans are willing to spend many more tax dollars on it either.

This is about practicality now, not just idiology of Russian hatred. (They deserve to be hated by the way.)

One thing is obvious. You don't understand Trump at all and what he's doing related to this. He may not be successful in the end. Putin seems to be as stubborn as they come. But I'm willing to wait and see what happens. One step at a time.
