You see, I feel very uncomfortable with the fact that one of are memebers is a leader; the reason is due to her liberal belief that it is OK for a woman to be "pro-choice", in my humble opinion; I really don't see how any Christian can be a true Christian if they believe this way. I feel that only the Lord as the right to terminate a pregnancy, and, it is the baby's body that is being killed, not the woman's. To say that someone has a choice to kill another human being, even if it is still in the womb, is like saying it is OK to murder if you don't want them around; now, this may sound like a drastic example, but when you come down to it, it is sort of what it means. All life is precious, and it isn't ours to end it. The ONLY reason I feel it should be allowed is if the baby won't survive when born for more than a few seconds.
You no doubt may be wondering how I know that this person is "pro-choice", well, I just happened to find out when I was reading posts on her Facebook page, I was very shocked and I had shared that with our previous Captains that are not at another Citadel, but, unfortunately, They wrote me back and said I was being judgmental and some other things that hurt my feelings. I have forgiven them of course, but since then, I have been cautious about what I share and with whom. I don't try to be judgmental, but when I see something in writing, well, what I am to think. As I said, that was a few years ago, and I haven't seen it since, but I do recall other things that she posted that didn't really seem fit for a leader to post.
Now, I firmly agree that all are invited to worship, in fact, they should. The ones that have had abortions are welcome as much as others, in fact, they should be there so they can be loved and shared the gospel with. We love the sinner but hate the sin. I am just saying that a person in leadership position should not be in that role, I fear that they could lead a lady astray that was on the fence about whether or not to have an abortion to have the procedure.
Believe me, I am no saint, far from it, and in my younger days, (my 20's) didn't see anything wrong with it, but, after learning how it was done, that it is indeed a living, breathing human being and seeing photos of the procedure, I repented and wouldn't ever think that way again. My dear mother was a nurse in our main hospital back home, sadly, she happened to be around when this young girl was having an abortion, it was horrible. The girl had a room full of guys laughing and planning to party when she got out, she used abortion as a form of birth control!! The procedure involved saline solutions being administered to "burn the baby", which is very painful. I understand that it took many hours of administrations of the saline and other harmful acts before the poor baby was finally aborted. He/she came out actually crying, the nurse had to put it in a sterile basin with a towel around it and put it in a utility room until it died. My mom actually told that girl that she committed murder and then she walked out of the room. Her charge nurse told her later that she could have gotten fired but mom didn't care and she told the charge nurse to never put her in any contact again with someone having an abortion. The head nurse sent her home early to calm down, she walked into our home in tears, it took her a long time to get over it. I also worked with a gentleman in the surgical supply department, he was from California, he was describing how they did abortions with a long rubber hose with a cap at the end attached to a vacuum, they literally suck the poor baby out in pieces and you could feel the parts as they went through the hose, the baby scrims and tries to avoid the nasty scissors forceps, but of course has no way of escape. So, YES, that baby in the womb is alive, and does have feelings.
I am sorry for being so graphic, but I want to get across how wrong I feel it is to have a "choice" to murder the unborn baby.
I have alerted our current Captains to this, I am not sure if they are going to follow up or not. I am seriously thinking of returning to my past religion which was Baptist.
