  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Would it not have perhaps been better to put the federal employees on unpaid leave (eligible for unemployment insurance) for a period of three months---and see how well the departments do without them. Let's face it--if you let thousands of employees with the same skill sets loose in Virginia they're not in danger of finding new jobs--although I'm sure they'll be looking.

My cousin in Virginia's family has been devastated by these firings. He's been president three weeks and she could already write her own book of Job about what has happened to her family.

But what makes me angry is that so many people didn't see the warning signs of this--that were as obvious as neon signs and alarms. The disaster of Trump will wind up pitting neighbor against neighbor. How can someone like my cousin forgive the people whose votes caused this mess?

Downsizing the Federal government is not solely the fault of President Trump. While he has pursued efforts to reduce the size of the government, for the past 50 years, Republicans have often criticized government size and functions. From Reagan to Romney criticizing the government's role has been a common strategy to gain support from the Republican base.

Most Republicans support reducing the size of the government. Even Republican employees within the federal government often advocate for downsizing. Republican employees within the federal government claim their job is importance but believe that other positions are unnecessary and result in inefficient use of taxpayer money.

Well that makes perfect sense, eliminating other jobs but protect your own.

"I alone can fix it."

I mean, it should be much easier to fix problems that your own actions have so recently created, but let's see.
