  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The thing is how you phrase the question. If Trump were to say I will give each Greenlander 500000 dollars to join the USA. That would cost him 25 billion, which is peanuts to the USA, then I think you would get a more positive result. If on the other hand, he pays Denmark then it will never happen because Denmark knows the people do not want that. Many Greenlanders live on welfare paid for by Denmark. So if there is no compensation to individual Greenlanders they have no incentive to vote for this as they would undoubtedly be worse off under a Trump Musk anti-welfare regime.

The US already have military bases in Greenland and friendly relations with both Greenland and Denmark.

There was no security need for Trump to attempt to humiliate Greenland or Denmark. Frankly, Trump's rhetoric comes across as either bullying/trolling, or absurd and insane.
