  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I ignore the journalists' language inflation, such as "enrages"....

I would repeat, however, what I said many times during Trump's run for
the White House: Donald Trump does not understand what the core doctrines
of Christianity are, and he merely manipulates American Christians, in order to
gain votes.

The "property gospel" minister that Trump just appointed, is considered as
holding a heretical rebuild of historical, orthodox, Christianity.

"She is a proponent of “prosperity theology,” which teaches that God rewards the truly faithful with material wealth and personal success.

Critics say that by blaming financial woes on a lack of faith, prosperity theology can be used to exploit vulnerable churchgoers. Many Christians consider it a form of heresy, according to The New York Times.

Some of Trump’s Christian MAGA supporters took to social media to express their disappointment in the president’s pick.

“Even though President Trump is enforcing laws that line up with our values, that doesn’t mean he has any clue what biblical Christianity is or why it matters,” Christian podcast host John Mason wrote on X. “Paula White is a known heretic and known false teacher who has no regard for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” "

“A good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by its own fruit. For people do not pick figs from thornbushes, nor do they gather grapes from brambles. 45 A good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good, but an evil person out of a store of evil produces evil; for from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.
New American Bible, Revised Edition. (Washington, DC: The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, 2011), Lk 6:43–45.

For ALL Christians, the stamp of authenticity of their faith is not
some mere profession "I am a Christian". Authenticity involves
living out righteousness. If those who DO gain wealth, use it for
the good of the People of God (and not for a luxurious life), then
wealth is put in its proper place.

But when wealth is described as a crass mark of approval from God,
for the person with the wealth, THEN this is a doctrine that is incompatible
with orthodox Christianity.

My guess is that Trump is trying to "Jesus wash" the oligarchs that he is
putting into power, just as Putin tries to use the Russian Orthodox church
to "Jesus wash" Putin's brutal dictatorship.

It's not a formal heresy, as no council has defined it as such. However, it is superstitious nonsense and rests on poor theology.

Not worth discussing with those who have made up their minds.
I pray for the poor who are suffering true poverty that they do not fall for the lies of the devil that equate poverty with holiness and prosperity with evil.
Please do not listen to their false spirituality. Trust God for your needs. You will prosper. You will be able to pay your bills on time. Your children will grow up safe and warm with full bellies and hopeful for the future. God WILL help you because He loves you and wants you to enjoy your life.
Jesus once told me, "I gave my life for you, so live it and enjoy it." I do not want to waste His sacrifice. I want to thank Him for it and please Him by having faith in Him and His promises. He IS a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Never forget that... and strive to please Him by believing in His goodness and faithfulness.

Jesus became poor for us. Is that not holiness? James and Jesus both said that the poor are blessed. Jesus and Paul urge us to follow them. We become poor for each other. But in truth we are just giving. God will take care of all of us if we follow him. See 2 Corinthians chapter 8 on giving. Then consider the church in Acts 4.

Proverbs 13:7 There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing;
And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches.
8 The ransom of a man’s life is his riches,
But the poor does not hear rebuke.
You should read other Bible translations, which talk about appearances.
Jesus became poor for us. Is that not holiness?
I would say he became poor alright, the Creator of everything became human not out of holiness but out of love. I would say He was poor to allow Himself to be mistreated and crucified, Jesus was poor in appearance.
What is the inheritance?
It means just what it means, like the inheritance of the promised land to the Hebrews. This includes your wisdom not only money anything I pass down to the kids is an inheritance including wisdom.
1 Timothy 6:9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
Desires can be Godly or unGodly desires or the reason you desire to be rich.

I would think that the best thing you can give your children is a church like in acts chapter 4 and 2 Corinthians 8. But that's just my opinion. I'm tired of debate. I just want to love God and people.

I've been to a lot of Churches and never seen one where you mentioned Acts if yours teaches this can I have a name?
I'm tired of debate.
I am too, I've learned on these forums no one changes their mind. I get aggravated when Christians try to impose their beliefs on me. Peace Out.

Considering that Jesus, and the apostles, led financially modest lifestyles I believe that the (financial) prosperity gospel is wrong. God does promise financial sufficiency though (Matt 6 v 25-34) as long as we make Him and His kingdom the first priority in our lives.

It worries me that Trump is surrounding himself by wealthy people, as if money is power. It's not power for the Christian - God is, and He will provide for our needs and for anything He wants doing if we are faithful to Him.

Trump doesn't understand Christianity except as a political tool and weapon.

You know if you look at the proponents and antagonists of prosperity theology, it’s interesting because they both have very strong evidence to suggest that they are both correct.

They both provide scriptures that emphatically support their points of view whether it is pro prosperity or anti prosperity and obviously God is not a liar and obviously he is not the author of confusion so how can we reconcile these two seemingly opposing theologies that both clearly exist in the Bible?

On the one hand, we have scriptures like this that seem to promote prosperity.

Luke 6:35-38 KJV

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. [36] Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. [37] Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: [38] Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Proverbs 10:2-6

Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death. The Lord will not allow the righteous soul to famish, but He casts away the desire of the wicked. He who has a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. He who gathers in summer is a wise son; he who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame. Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

On the other hand, we have scriptures like this that seem to go against it.

Luke 14:33 NKJV

So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.

Luke 6:24-26 KJV

But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation. [25] Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger.

1 Timothy 6:9 NKJV

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.

I really do marvel at how obvious and simple the answer is and how few people can actually see it.

Let’s have a look at a few clues.

Does President Trump desire to be rich?

If I need to answer that question you probably need to stop playing on your parents computer and stop playing hooky from your kindergarten class.

Has President Trump been drowned in destruction and perdition by many foolish and harmful lusts?

Not as far as I can see. He is the most powerful man on Earth and prospering in the most incredible way, possibly more so than any man on earth.

Let’s have a look at another clue;

Jeremiah 12:1-2 NKJV
Righteous are You, O LORD, when I plead with You; Yet let me talk with You about Your judgments. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are those happy who deal so treacherously? [2] You have planted them, yes, they have taken root; They grow, yes, they bear fruit. You are near in their mouth But far from their mind.

Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are those happy who deal so treacherously?”

If the wicked prosper and the righteous prosper then everybody is prospering and there are no poor on the Earth but obviously that’s not true.

Are the wicked going to prosper in the age to come? - No they are going to be in great trial and torment when their many foolish and harmful lusts will drown them in destruction and perdition.

Are the righteous going to prosper in the age to come? - Most definitely.

The prosperity of the righteous that God is assuring us of is not in this age and if it was it would contradict so many scriptures that it would give people incontrovertible evidence to accuse God of being a liar.

God is not a liar, nor he is he the author of confusion.

The "prosperity gospels" are not defined by their mention of wealth,
or being successful.

They are defined by the place they put wealth, in the "gospel" (the "good
news") that Christ brought.

Christ came preaching freedom from the slavery to sin.

The prosperity cults come preaching freedom from poverty.

These are VERY DIFFERENT religions.

Show me someone who calls their religion "prosperity gospel" in terms of "wealth and riches" over salvation and freedom from sin. I am just curious. I have never met one. My understanding is that the term "prosperity gospel" is a derogatory term made up of those who do not like the Biblical teaching about prosperity. And that teaching is well established in both the Old and New Testaments. The only people obsessed with the teaching are those who misunderstand it and are against it. I have believed in God's will for the believer's prosperity for over 50 years. I rarely mention it unless someone tries to rob God's people of this blessing. We are not talking about being rich or excessively wealthy. We are not talking about planes, gold faucets, and million-dollar mansions. We are talking about reaping the good that you sow. We are talking about prospering in what you put your hand to. We are talking about prospering and being in health even as your soul prospers. We are talking about people paying their bills on time and having food, shelter, and clothing for their kids. We are also talking about having enough to give to others.
The strangest thing is those who speak out against prosperity are almost always filthy rich by NT standards. The fact that people are reading this on $1200 phones or $1000 computers makes me wonder if they have enough self-awareness to judge. If you want to rail against the private plane and million dollar mansion... then fine. But as to those of us who simply want to believe in God, the gospel, and His promise regarding prosperity... we would appreciate it if you tone it down a bit. Many impoverished believers need to hear this. Their children and families need for them to hear it. They do not need your help to doubt and unbelieve.

The Christian messaging here might not look much like the Bible says.

Greed not deeds. Only the rich are worthy and the poor get what they deserve. Bless success and stuff the rest.

No traditional Christian asosciates prosperity with evil. We associate greed, covetuousness, and vanity with vice, and we reject superstitious pseudo-theology that makes promises not grounded in sound biblical theology.

Does anyone see civil war? Martial law? The complete disintigration of society?

Its ALL evil, but ironically its fulfilling last days prophecy, complete with Paula White as the false prophet, or at the very least A false prophet, setting the stage for the finale of the Apocalypse.

Repent and turn to Jesus Christ, all of you, for ALL have sinned, and without being born again by the Spirit, you will perish and face the judgment.

Hell shall be your portion: every one who lived for pleasure, and self, and pride, The idols you have chosen will be your undoing.

Repent and turn sinner: the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, and a judgment is coming.

In fact, even now America is being judged for despising God and mocking His ways.

Repent and turn, for the time is short.

Lord Jesus, in wrath remember mercy, that we all be not consumed. Shorten these days dear LORD, or no flesh shall be saved, and make a short work upon the earth, cutting it short in righteousness. Amen!
