  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

so acording to trump everyone is now female.

Circumcision is necessary for health reasons. Like pulling out wisdom teeth.
Not really - wisdom teeth are only pulled if they become impacted or otherwise troublesome healthwise, not so foreskins.

Mutilation is “okay” if there can be reasons you agree with?

Great, I think being transgender is a good reason..
Believing you are woman trapped in a man's body is a mental illness that requires therapy, not surgery.

Yes really, I would argue that most people who have their child circumcised do so to prevent possible infections are foreskin complications.

Take as an example a person who is xx but presents as male. Can they sue a woman's only university for discrimination if they are bared entry?
Then I don't understand disability comparison.

What about a person who is xy and presents as a man? Can they sue a woman's only university if barred entry?

You are fast approaching once again gender identity with no way of really identifying if someone is a man or woman aren't you.

So removing some excess skin is rhe same thing as a vaginoplasty? I can't describe it here, because the gruesome nature of the surgery is forbidden to describe on this forum. I've already been warned once for doing so.

It's like saying removing a small.lump.from a breast is the same thing as removing both breasts and sewing on a foot instead.

Except for Jews and Muslims, of course. In my day it was routinely performed on Protestant boys as well--you could tell the Protestant and Catholic boys apart when you were in the showers.

Just continuing the analogy since it is an area I'm familiar with.

Possibly. Perhaps because many biologist believe it to be a spectrum, not a binary.

Some people believe that changing the number of genders from the one-set, that they themselves grew up with is “wrong”.
This is probably true for places that have “more than two”, well.

Again, this is not like wisdom teeth which are removed only when causing actual problems, not to prevent "possible infections". Foreskins may be removed for medical necessity, but it seems to be mostly religious/cultural practice. You might very well argue what most people do, but your argument as presented lacks credible evidence as to what "most people" have as motivation for circumcising their baby boys - are you including Jews and Muslims in your "most people"?

I believe that you would indeed argue this as you are, in fact, actually arguing this. Well, asserting this without evidence.

About a third of the world’s males aged 15 years and older are circumcised, according to the World Health Organization (www.who.int/hiv/pub/malecircumcision/globaltrends/en/index.html). Most undergo the procedure for religious reasons: 68.8% of the world’s circumcised men are Muslim, with an additional 0.8% belonging to the Jewish faith. Among those not belonging to the Muslim or Jewish religions, 12.8% of circumcised men hail from the United States, with the remaining 17.6% spread throughout the rest of the world.

In recent history, most developed nations have largely abandoned the practice. Circumcision rates started to fall rapidly in the United Kingdom in the 1950s, in New Zealand in the 1960s and in Canada in the 1990s. In many European countries, nonreligious circumcision is almost unheard of.

Finally, it’s worth noting that the WHO recommends voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) to reduce HIV risk for heterosexual men in high-incidence areas like Eastern Africa. However, it also states it is one of many prevention methods, alongside condom use and post-exposure treatment.

Most Jewish and Muslim men are circumcised; most Christian men, worldwide, are not.
