  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It's a public university, founded by Thomas Jefferson who was big on freedom of speech.
I bet they wouldn’t tell a female Muslim student to remove her hijab because the left ironically bows down to Islam.

Why would they?

The hijab doesnt tell other people that they dont belong in America. Its like wearing a cross, or Jesus on a t shirt. Theres no problem with these things.

If Christians can’t express their opinions, neither should homosexuals or those who support Palestine over Israel.

It’s only fair.
All of the above are free to express their opinions. This student is still free to wear his hat, though he is not free from other people’s opinions about it.

Which seems to be what "freedom of speech" means to conservatives these days. Freedom to spew whatever inane opinion, platitude, or insult without any pushback in any setting. This was such a non-event. Someone complained about a hat, rightly or wrongly, reported it and the people whose job it is to follow-up on complaints did so. Nicely, as the article states and did not force this guy to do anything. And what "double-standard" is evident? Does the article talk about "offensive" atheist slogans or satanic apparel that was complained about not being followed-up on? Nope. Just this one guy and this one lady (allegedly) complaining about it.

As it should be.

No one is telling others they don’t belong in America.

A Christian nation belongs to Christians and not other people.
I guess that’s one way to interpret it? Slogans will have different interpretations based on who is reading it, I guess? I don’t know.

It depends on who you ask. Back in 1988 when Pat Roberstson was running for the Republican presidential nomination, one of the planks in his platform was that the Bill of Rights was only intended to apply to Evangelical Christians.

To put it mildly, Pat Robertson was a rather interesting character. Not exactly someone most looked Christians emulated.,

There's no reference. Is this picture from the University of Virginia? If not, it doesn't provide any information about dress codes and seems to have been posted forp shock value.
I didn't expect you to be shocked by them.

It was a demonstration. Not what they brought to class.
As you have probably heard, the international court at the Hague issued warrants for Netanyahu and his defense secretary. I think demonstrating against war crimes can be necessary for consciousness raising.

Demonstrating against war crimes by supporting the terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezbollah doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.

But the point of the images I posted is that so far it seems that in general universities don't have dress codes that ban political, religious, and ideological views for the most part. And if such codes were implemented that would mean also banning wearing anything that supports the pet causes of liberalism, such as no attire that expresses support of LGBTQ+ PRIDE as one example out of several.

I have a feeling you knew the point I was making and just didn't like it.
