  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pastor Greg Laurie recently offered a clear presentation of the Gospel and the hope of Heaven to psychologist Jordan Peterson in a wide-ranging conversation addressing faith, personal loss and the universal search for purpose.

Nearing the close of the nearly two-hour-long interview with Peterson on “The Jordan B. Peterson” podcast, Laurie, the 71-year-old pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California, reflected on the loss of his son, Christopher. The 33-year-old died in July 2008 in an automobile accident, a day Laurie has called the “worst” of his life.

“As a Christian, I believe I'll see my son again because he believed in Jesus,” Laurie told Peterson. “He won't be in Heaven because I'm his dad. He'll be in Heaven because he put his faith in Christ and he had that relationship. He's a part of my future as well. So that gives me hope. But also, I realize that God can allow these things in our life. I don't know why. I can't explain it. I don't even try to explain it.”

Well using the word gospel and sharing the gospel can mean one thing to one person and something completely different to another person.

I wonder if this Greg Laurie person told the Peterson man how to receive God's free gift of Eternal Life salvation and become a permanent born again child of God. By belief in Jesus, believing Jesus is who He says He is, the promised Messiah, only begotten Son of God and He, Jesus is the resurrection and the life and Eternal Life

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

That is is not about repenting of sin, being baptized, following Jesus, etc.. but simply about who or what is the object that you place your belief in. If it is not in the person Jesus, then any other object does not give eternal Life.

I saw the interview on The Daily Wire and it was good.

Dr Peterson showed what he is struggling with when it comes to accepting Christ.

He has a problem with accepting Heaven and Hell. He wasn't confrontational and
Greg Laurie gently shared why he believes in them.
