  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Donald Trump seems very confident in his ability to make deals. But,
he wanders to conclusions that show that he has little knowledge of
history. Or, morality.

Trump criticized Abraham Lincoln, for letting the Civil War happen.
Trump seems to think that Lincoln should have "settled" the Civil War.

What Trump does not seem to know, is that the South at that time, lived
with a slave economy. If slavery were abolished (as President Lincoln did,
with the Emancipation Proclamation), then the agricultural economy of the
South would have largely collapsed. And, the South was NOT willing to reorganize
its agricultural economy, to exist without slavery.

This problem with American history, is not a problem that a business
negotiator could have solved. A radical reorganization of the economy
was needed, in order to recognize the full humanity of the slaves, and
to free them.
---------- -----------

Donald Trump does not recognize historical truths, and seems to not understand
why history happened, the way it did. He seems to think that billionaire managers
could solve in a few days, complex problems and deep seated biases.

This is incredibly naive.

And, if Donald Trump is allowed to do more of his "solving", he will force the
Ukrainians to give up parts of their own land to Putin, for peace. And so Trump
will support the snatch-and-grab thievery of tyrants.

American citizens, and especially the poorer classes, should recognize that
Trump has no interest in protecting the human rights of every citizen. He just
wants to be seen as some great "negotiator", even if his decisions bypass a
fair rule of law, or individual human rights. Donald's "negotiating" is cut free of
the fair rule of law, and morality-ethics.

Trump haters obviously know no bounds. Your post highlights the left wing Vanity Fair article. But I don't see anywhere in Donald Trump's comment a criticism of Abe Lincoln or that he wanted slavery to continue. He just questions why Lincoln didn't try harder to settle the matter.

As for Kamala Harris, I find it laughable. She condemned Christopher Columbus Day by saying "the arrival of Columbus was a terrible occasion as it negatively impacted those living in the U.S. at the time." Yet, she is the "border czar" letting in millions of illegal immigrates into this county. This would be almost laughable if it wasn't so sick.

You obvious aren't one of those living in the Colorado apartment complexes who are terrified for their lives from Venezuelan gangs let into this country. Some day soon you might be and then we'll see who is naive.
