  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

HI everyone, I would greatly appreciate your prayers- I have been the victim of a crime. I have cell phone service from Verizon, I just received a bill from them for $176 due Sept 23, I checked the bill and it looks like I am being billed $100 a month for an Apple iPhone 15 that I did not buy and never received. I spent like 2 hours on the phone with Verizon this afternoon and I talked with Customer service, they sent me over to their fraud team, the fraud team sent me to customer service, then they sent me back to fraud again, and then back to customer service again. They told me it had been over 180 days since this all started so due to their regulations they could not do anything about the fraudulent charges, this started in February and I did not realize what was happening until recently. They are now saying they can remove the iPhone from my account but they will charge me $900 for it which I cannot afford, I am already maxed out on my credit card. If you wouldn't mind pray that justice would be done and the fraudulent charges would be dropped and I would not have to pay the balance of the cell phone which I never purchased. Thank you!

I will certainly pray for you. This is terrible.

Something similar happened to me a while back. I was charged $1000 for a watch that I never order or received. The watch, according to the paper work, was actually sent to my address although it never arrived. I told them that unless they have my name on a contract I wanted the cost removed immediately from my credit card. And I called the bank to stop payment.

If possible, go down to Verizon and ask to see someone in person. If you didn't sign you shouldn't pay for it. If they are charging your credit card, call the bank to stop payment. This is not only fruad by the person who did this, but Verizon is trying to past their mistake and cost to you. Don't buy it!

Write a letter to the CEO and explain what happened. Provide documentation too. You should hear from someone on their team who'll expedite the problem. I had a similar issue with my provider. But it wasn't due to theft. The agent made a mistake on the order and sent the wrong contract. We discovered the problem later on when the bill arrived. They tried to fix it through credits and amendments but couldn't. The system wouldn't allow them to go back.

It was finally resolved by writing the CEO and explaining what occurred. They deleted the contract and the device was mine to keep. Yes, I got it free. God is good. But it took months to settle.

Hi, and may God bring justice to your case. While I am at it. For all reading unforgiveness has to extend to organizations and faceless groups as well as individuals. Why? Because the anger, resentment and ill feelings still continue to hurt the abused. God loves justice so when you forgive and turn it over to Him, he will work on your behalf. You can still stand up for your rights though but do it in the trust and peace of God.

, There are at least three avenues where you can go outside the Verizon contract for possible justice. First, you can try to see if your credit card can dispute the charges. The time might effect this but it is worth a try. The second avenue is to go to the local police. If they care enough they might be able to get the number and track the person down. The 3rd avenue would be to write the telecommunications regulatory body in your state. Usually they are called the Public Service Commission. They regulate Verizon concerning all fees and what they can and cannot do. Below is a quote from georgia's. Source: Georgia Public Service Commission
Regulated utilities include communications providers in most states. This does not take as long as you might suspect. They will look at your complaint, then forward it on to Verizon and Verizon will have to respond to the regulator.
Since Verizon says it is your phone, I would assume they can lock it down. If they refuse, then ask the public service commission why? "The PSC monitors the rates and services of most electric, gas, and telecommunication service providers. The Commission also oversees natural gas pipeline safety and the deregulation of the natural gas industry."
PSC's Office of Consumer Affairs
If you do not hear from the utility within a reasonable time, or if you are not satisfied with the utility's action, you may contact the Consumer Affairs Office of the Georgia Public Service Commission.
The PSC can help you with the following types of problems:

Father God,

We ask for Your intervention for Dave's issue. By Your Mighty Hands, clear away all the hurdles that are blocking Dave from receiving smooth, fair and proper solution. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Stay resolute brother. Don't let the bureaucracy of Verizon dissuade you from correcting your situation. Where possible get the proper authorities to investigate your case. As I don't stay in the US I can't advise with authorities to direct you to. In my country we have Consumer Tribunal to sort out such things. Maybe you will have similar consumer protection authorities.
