  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In the last month or so, there has been renewed interest in the ten commandments (TC) establishing, and/or replacing and visibility by the GOP. I would not venture much of that same interest coming from the Democratic party, if truth be known, seldom rings favorably towards religion lest politically expedient, sometimes, for both of them. Whichever, interest in the TC seems to come in waves, which tells me their public constituency experiences periods of spiritual void amongst them. But here we go again, focus on the law and not on it's Fulfillment. In other tense, spiritually buffeted within their reputations.

The ten commandments display in schools that's come up is a test case. Someone wants to get it to the Supreme Court to see if they blink on religious symbols in public.

The display of the TC is not a tool for winning the battle towards Holiness . As a matter of fact, the law is bondage without Love. These " people " are in great error, weaponizing that which belongs to God. They are guilded by another spirit. Their motivation truly lacks Love.

I agree completely. Let's see proponents actually obey them and give good example rather than exploiting them for political purpose.

Lets not forget they are Jewish heritage in a nation based on the separation of church and state. There is plenty of room for them in our homes.

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. John Adams

We are largely no longer that country ... religion can't and shouldn't be imposed on anyone. Government can not legislate morality (even though they attempt to), it is the condition of the heart that needs to be changed ... some will ... some won't.

Jeremiah 17:9
King James Version

9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

The degrading of societies across the world is self-evident and continued and severe chaos is imminent.

As Christians ... we know how this plays out .... very rocky roads ahead for the people of God. We are on a battlefield, Continuous moral and physical battles ahead (escalating as time goes on) ... however, we do know who wins the war. Amen

Government can not legislate morality
But it can protect the innocent and encourage moral behavior.

I think there are plenty of sources of nonreligious inspirational material that could be placed in and around federal buildings and public schools.

The Ten Commandments are too closely identified with Judeo-Christian culture and religion. How about inscribing them in our hearts instead?

Sometimes, I wonder if we are getting ANYTHING worthwhile for our tax-dollar? As far as MAGA's many efforts currently underway goes, one specific and rather toxic lack keeps re-surfacing; The lack to prosecute due to the extensiveness of corruption within the justice department itself.

For those who have been watching the years-long morass underway, try and compute how much time, money AND justice are being are being undermined by the above? It would not surprise me to learn the vast majority of litigation currently underway needs to be suspended for a more favorable approach of appointing a special counsel (formerly called special prosecutor to uncover the first of what may very well be, a long line of players that are to blame for suspected wrongdoing and denying justice her full due. To conclude by invoking final prosecution of one or more government agent(s), official(s), U.S. citizen(s), private, domestic, and international companies(s), contractor(s), foreign national(s), for unlawful conduct that is contrary to the ethical operation of our government.

All non-related cases currently underway are surely hamstrung if the above is not addressed!
