  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The UK is now a dangerous place to visit?

Lots of angry people in the world. Have we always been this angry?
There’s a lovely movie that quite nicely illustrates anger in many “incarnations” and is a great…romp, while being poignant with a delightfully “subtle-as-a-brick” surrealistic absurdity. It’s 2012’s Mental, starring Toni Collette, and is for me a “Thanksgiving movie”.

All humans are (to one degree or another) “crazy”, that’s why we find it so hard to live peacefully with one another. Anger’s like a drug for some, and they need a daily “dose”, as it’s addictive. ODing on anger leads to wars and such, when it’s rife throughout the general population, (which it’s not here, yet).

More on point to your query, we did engage in Two World Wars, last century, so that might provide us with a clue?

Well...the short version goes like this.

Police in the UK are failing. It's often described as policing by consent, if you don't consent to be policed, you need not worry about punishment for breaking the law.
No, it isn't. But you actually believe it is, don't you? ^_^

Add to that a vast increase in illegal immigrants from the middle east, and north Africa, and you have a recipe for some rather troubling problems. Strain on the health system. Rapidly increasing stabbings. Rape gangs targeting non-muslim schoolgirls. Thievery and burglary with extremely low arrest rates.

These issues have piled up....as a group of white native English Welsh and Scottish people are being repressed from speaking openly about these problems....as they have no freedom of speech....and any such condemnation can be construed as hate speech towards foreigners...these problems have continued unabated and unsolved.
That's what 14 years of right-wing government will get you, I guess.

Then some dark skin Muslim kid stabbed a bunch of children...killing 3 and injuring many more. (I think).
You're late to the right-wing circle jerk - this lie has already been dealt with. He's from a Christian family.

The result is now violence from the natives spilling onto the streets while recent illegals and migrants are forming violent counter protests. The police, embarrassingly, seem focused on what people are saying online....
The police have already arrested about 600 of the far-right looters and counter protesters.

This video sums up the riots. Pay attention to the guy in grey, on the right. ^_^

What counts as a British 'native' anyway?

Is it people from Germany and Denmark?

People from Norway and Sweden?

France?

Turkey?

I have no idea. It's just what I've heard and it coincides with what I've seen.

Indeed...your right is left of our left.

Seems like a lot.

What counts as a British 'native' anyway?

The native Scots, English and Welsh that resided on the island for centuries pre-colonialism.

Who else would be from England, Scotland and Wales?

That'd be my lot. The Celts. These Johnnie-come-lately guys such as the Angles, the Saxons, the Normans, Romans, Norse etc...they're the immigrants. The red indicates Celtic Britons in the first century AD.

Although to be honest, we all came from somewhere else. Africa to start with.

Nope…………UK police exist to uphold the peace And have done since the Bow Street Runners and Peelers were amalgamated in the Victorian Era. As for if you do not consent you are somehow immune from the consequences of your actions..let’s just say there are a number of rioters who discovered this to be somewhat false over the past week as they recieved fast tracked prison sentences.

As for vast increase in illegal immigration. The Uk has always experienced immigration legal and otherwise. The current issue is centred around the criminal gangs and the diversion of desperate families into modern slavery. You would have to be truly desperate to risk the channel sea crossing in an inflatable or small boat. It is treacherous. Most financial migrants end up in the hands of people traffickers. Modern slavery by organised crime is a nasty underside that gets glossed over and ignored by those who wish to paint immigrants as the issue.
Churches here provide support for seekers of asylum. They do NOT have the same rights nor status as UK citizens .They are not even allowed to access help from food banks for heavens sake.

The strain on the NHS is twofold, public expectations of what it can deliver increase at the same time staff have discovered you can earn more in a supermarket than working in an allied health profession or as a nurse. The pay for recently qualified medical staff is very poor. Add to the mix a none increase in funding via National Insurance and it gets hicky. If it was not for immigrant doctors and nurses arriving to work for the NHS the problem could be even bigger. The NHS is not perfect but believe me it is still far better than what went before.

In the UK guns are difficult to obtain outside of serious criminal circles. The weapon of choice for most is a knife. UK laws restrict what may be carried in public and how.
Gang rapes have always happened as a means to exert power and control through violence and fear. It is not just girls. It happens to men too. It is not the prerogative of any one cultural group.
Thanks to funding for the police having been cut over the past few years we have less police. less police means the more serious crimes such as murder and physical harm to persons have to be prioritised over loss or property.

The UK has its own laws. Expressing hatred for another group under the guise of freedom of speech is illegal. The fact thousands of white native folk in the Uk have been turning out to repair, clean and support those most effected by the EDL riots and to peacefully protest says such people whilst violently vocal are the minority.

A UK born teenager, with an autistic spectrum disorder, from a CHRISTIAN rwanda origin family has been charged and remanded. To state otherwise is to attempt to continue misinformation. it is this very misinformation the EDL and it’s ilk hijacked as an excuse to riot, act violently to anyone they designated as not them and loot.

I can only assume you have no idea of the role social media played as a platform for organising riots so yes, the ongoing police investigations WILL include investigating and charging people by following up their behaviour on various online platforms.

As for vast increase in illegal immigration.

Not a place to end your sentence, just a tip.

The Uk has always experienced immigration legal and otherwise.

Sure but the illegal immigration has been a bit high the past few years, no?

The current issue is centred around the criminal gangs and the diversion of desperate families into modern slavery. You would have to be truly desperate to risk the channel sea crossing in an inflatable or small boat.

Desperate and stupid are often easily mistaken for each other....

For example, we have 110 degree deserts that illegals jump in with no real understanding of the distance and without water or preparation.

You might be correct in thinking it's desperation. It might also be ignorance/stupidity.

It is treacherous. Most financial migrants end up in the hands of people traffickers.

One might think that's reason enough to prevent it.

Modern slavery by organised crime is a nasty underside that gets glossed over and ignored by those who wish to paint immigrants as the issue.

You don't have to explain this to me....we've had an expansion of human trafficking cartels under Biden-Harris.

Churches here provide support for seekers of asylum. They do NOT have the same rights nor status as UK citizens .They are not even allowed to access help from food banks for heavens sake.

Want to hear something wild?

People who arrived in NYC for the first day were treated far better than the homeless people who live there.

The strain on the NHS is twofold, public expectations of what it can deliver increase at the same time staff have discovered you can earn more in a supermarket than working in an allied health profession or as a nurse.

S Korea ran into a similar problem....with new doctors threatening to quit.

The pay for recently qualified medical staff is very poor. Add to the mix a none increase in funding via National Insurance and it gets hicky. If it was not for immigrant doctors and nurses arriving to work for the NHS the problem could be even bigger.

Why is the NHS under strain?

In the UK guns are difficult to obtain outside of serious criminal circles.

I'm aware.

The weapon of choice for most is a knife. UK laws restrict what may be carried in public and how.

Right.

Gang rapes have always happened as a means to exert power and control through violence and fear. It is not just girls. It happens to men too. It is not the prerogative of any one cultural group.

I'm sorry....I've seen the grooming gangs.

They appear to be of an west Asian ethnicity.....predominantly.

Thanks to funding for the police having been cut over the past few years we have less police. less police means the more serious crimes such as murder and physical harm to persons have to be prioritised over loss or property.

Right...but when you have a 95% chance of getting away with a burglary....you'll see more of that too.

The UK has its own laws. Expressing hatred for another group under the guise of freedom of speech is illegal.

I'm aware.

The fact thousands of white native folk in the Uk have been turning out to repair, clean and support those most effected by the EDL riots and to peacefully protest says such people whilst violently vocal are the minority.

Maybe, right? Maybe they're the minority....that's the problem with hate speech laws....they may be the majority and nobody knows it because they can't say it online.

A UK born teenager, with an autistic spectrum disorder, from a CHRISTIAN rwanda origin family has been charged and remanded.

Well I read his father was Christian but hey...I won't argue.

I can only assume you have no idea of the role social media played as a platform for organising riots so yes,

I live in the US where BLM ruined what was a rather effective police institution all things considered. They rioted to the tune of over 3 billion dollars and multiple people were killed....more livelihoods lost than I can count.

We now have new categories of crime...like the coordinated looting.

Yet I believe that freedom of speech is arguably the most important right we have.

the ongoing police investigations WILL include investigating and charging people by following up their behaviour on various online platforms.

For words.

I have no idea. It's just what I've heard and it coincides with what I've seen.
You knew you didn't know what it was but posted as if you did. That's willful ignorance.

"No individual can chose [sic] to withdraw his or her consent from the police, or from a law."

Indeed...your right is left of our left.
One of the last things the Conservatives did was to literally make a law saying that a dangerous country like Rwanda is safe, just so they could deport asylum seekers there. Does that seem left-wing to you? Maybe it does.

Interesting.

Is that a Welsh name?
He was born in Wales, he is a Welsh citizen. So, yes. That is a Welsh name, though not a name in the Welsh language.

There are plenty of other examples. For example, Welsh politicians in the Senedd (the Welsh Parliament) like Finch-Saunders or Sargeant, with Irish and English names. Even Lloyd-George, the British Prime Minister from Wales during the First World War, only had half a Welsh language name.

Seems like a lot.
Yes. It shows they aren't merely focused on what people are saying online.

The native Scots, English and Welsh that resided on the island for centuries pre-colonialism.

Who else would be from England, Scotland and Wales?
Even with a little critical thinking, you might have realised that I suggested those for a reason. Those are all English ancestors. England being where most of the riots took place.

Anna you have stated you live in the US.

To claim insight into the cultures, social and political history et al in the Uk is as naive as for me to claim that being a Russel Group Alumni MUST give me insight into the cultures, social and political history et al in your own country. To do so would be naive at best and arrogant at worst.

You are also most welcome to peruse the National Statists Office online stats. They go back for 200 years. If you did so you would notice that seekers of asylum have been included in the immigration statistics since 2022. I believe a war in Europe as well as ongoing ones this side of the pond have seriously bumped up those most in need of shelter. let’s not forget it is the two thirds developing and poorer countries that gives shelter to three quarters of those displaces by war, natural disaster and economic collapse.

You clearly have no interest in understanding the complexity of the UKs history, culture or contextual experiences. It has always been far easier for the people to read their own agenda onto the lived experience of others rather than pause, step back, listen and learn from those who are other to yourself.

I live in the UK. I follow the UKs jurisprudence as an ethical interest. I support the right of the police to investigate what is said online. The dark web and some www social platforms are gnarly virtual places that leads to some very strange and nasty places indeed. keyboard warriors can destroy the lives of others and imagine they are immune from the consequences intended or otherwise of their words. I am also aware of the work of our government security agencies and I am thankful for their work. it is not nice, it is not pleasant and it’s not a job I would want But it makes this little island a bit safer.

The Uk under the human Rights act article 10 permits freedom of expression BUT you are also expected to accept the consequences of doing such when it contravenes the rights of others. I do not expect another country to also live according the law of the UK but I do expect, when someone speaks about my country who does not actually live here, that they do not assume to also speak for it.

Well, the news cycle has moved on. The arrests, trials and exemplary sentences continue.

Stephen Yaxley-Lennon aka Tommy Robinson is skulking somewhere in Europe with the Irish government suddenly showing intense interest in his passport and how he acquired it. Expect him to be lifted by a local bobby with an international arrest warrant any day now.

It is all over (till the next time).
