  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ecclesiastes 1:

9 What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
Wiki:

mainstream scientific approaches reject the explanation of déjà vu as "precognition" or "prophecy".
Deja vu is not prophecy.

People who travel often or frequently watch films are more likely to experience déjà vu than others.
To me, deja vu is superstition. Practice hearing from God instead.

I think Deja vu is a brain misfire or malfunction. We have circuitry that recognizes past events, and occasionally it will malfunction. For example, in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy, they commonly will have the sensation of deja vu during the electrical chaos the occurs with epilepsy. (See this wikipedia article of Deja vu)

Of interest, there are other related terms:
  • Jamais vu (from French, meaning "never seen") is any familiar situation which is not recognized by the observer.
  • Déjà vécu (from French, meaning "already lived") is an intense, but false, feeling of having already lived through the present situation.
  • Presque vu (French pronunciation: [pʁɛsk vy], from French, meaning "almost seen") is the intense feeling of being on the very brink of a powerful epiphany, insight, or revelation, without actually achieving the revelation.
  • Déjà rêvé (from French, meaning "already dreamed") is the feeling of having already dreamed something that is currently being experienced.
  • Déjà entendu (literally "already heard") is the experience of feeling sure about having already heard something, even though the exact details are uncertain or were perhaps imagined.

EDIT: I see now that Tony's OP also referenced this same wikipedia article.... Oops!

To say there is nothing new under the sun means there is nothing really new on the earth. All the activity of a man during his lifetime is lost in the grander scheme of things and will soon be forgotten (Ecclesiastes 1:11).
