In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Walz’s history on born-alive abortions opens door for Trump, GOP to flip extremism argument

At least eight infants were born alive after botched abortions in Minnesota on Walz's watch, none was given life-saving care, reports show.

In summer 2022 as Tim Walz was steaming toward reelection as Minnesota governor, his state health agency published a required abortion-statistics report with little fanfare. In it, though, was a secret that is certain to catapult to national prominence now that Walz has been selected to be Democrat Kamala Harris’s running mate.

In Walz’s state and on his watch, five infants were "born alive" in 2021 during failed abortions, and none was provided life-saving care though two got “comfort care,” the Minnesota Department of Health reported on July 1, 2022.

Three other infants were "born alive" during abortions in 2019, Walz’s first year as governor, and they too perished without life-saving care, according to a July 1, 2020 report from the same state agency.

Minnesota was the rare state to require such born-alive abortions to be publicly reported, creating a powerful statistic for pro-life and anti-abortion forces to draw upon.

But in 2023, Walz worked with his new Democrat-controlled Legislature to eliminate both the reporting requirement and the state’s legal obligation for doctors, nurses and medical professionals to administer life-saving care to infants born alive during an abortion procedure. The governor-turned-vice presidential nominee signed an omnibus bill known as SF2995 that closed one of the few statistical windows on late-term abortions and the possibility that babies born alive were left to die.

Roe/ Wade had restrictions concerning abortion/viability. Now that this was taken away, such things as this will happen. Minnesota as NO restrictions at all. Disappointing for sure.

Yes if you dig deep enough you will generally find links for just about every Democratic nominee or rep. Some more extreme than others but all having to support in some way the same basic progressive ideology. That is what the party is about, bucking the norms and standing up for counter cultural ideas. Especially associated with individual and group rights to freedoms and alternative lifestyle and choice expressions.

Anti abortion doesn't fit well with the new norms so pregnancy becomes a hinderance. Abortions have to be devalued as just another form of contraception otherwise people have to take account for their choices.

So pro abortion is the new social norm and weak moraless politicians will go with the flow and cosy up to the Woke elites who dictate whats best for society.

But if you pin them on this they dart and weave the truth. They know very well if they have a conscience that its wrong. But they are more interested in power at any cost. Like Harris they will morph into whatever position will win them appeal rather than have any principled substance to what they stand for. I guess thats whats called identity politics.

Infants born alive in Minnesota are protected by law and it is illegal to terminate their life .

How does what you say here correlate with what was recorded in the post you responded to which says that in Minnesota since Walz was governor there have been actual unprotected infants born alive after abortion who were not protected by law?

Does the article provide proof that this occurred or is it a unsubstantiated claim?

Amen! I hope they won't enter the White House! They have the blood of innocent babies on their hands!

They should ask themselves: Would God be proud?

The only person they have to fear IS GOD.

It is sad that there's a very small percentage of people that don't have a problem with abortions in the 9th month of pregnancy and don't have a problem with ending the life of a baby after it is born. However, I am thankful that there is only a small percentage of people who believe this.
Nevertheless, I do compromise by making exceptions for abortion when the life of the mother is at stake. I also agree with the exceptions when the pregnancy was done by rape or incest.

I think I understand why the Republicans made this shift to more 'moderate' ...
to attract the centrist voter ...
but I hope it hasn't been a mistake?
... because God is 100% pro-life.

I tend to look at some things from how I think the Lord might see it.
I don't know how strongly God sees the importance of this one issue, but I guess we'll find out ...

That is still too many abortions after 21 weeks, @stereodanny
Too many unborn babies are being killed even with the numbers you have provided.

Palliative care is about as much that can be realistically done in many cases where abortion would be sought later in pregnancy, meaning that it would be cruel and unethical to engage in unnecessary medical treatments in such cases.

Whether one sees God as being pro-life or not ...
here is what He says to us, in the word of God (the Bible):

"Thou shalt not kill."

The abortion procedure takes the life of a child.
And God has told us not to kill.
One either obeys God, or does not.
... Whether one sees God as being pro-life or not.

It is a distraction, to spend this thread with discussions about "Is God pro-life?" and "Did God ever kill?", etc.
God is the Creator, we are His creations.
God has told US not to kill.
That's good enough for me.

Blasphemy. Jesus would never support killing babies.
Agreed.

I do not know what kind of 'version' of Jesus is it, that some people believe He would actually support the killing of innocent babies.
