  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ocasio-Cortez: Democratic ‘elites’ who want Biden to drop out want Harris off ticket

“If you think that there is consensus among the people who want Joe Biden to leave that they will support Vice President Harris, you would be mistaken,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “They’re not going to be fully honest, but I’m going to be honest for them.”

It is something that so many powerful Democrats who said Trump is a threat to democracy are willing to throw out their own democratically elected primary winner, Mr. Democracy himself, in order to promote others.

It is all about power and always has been.

From the link:

“If you think that there is consensus among the people who want Joe Biden to leave that they will support Vice President Harris, you would be mistaken,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “They’re not going to be fully honest, but I’m going to be honest for them.”
“I’m in these rooms. I see what they say in conversations,” she continued. “I’m here to tell you that a huge amount of the donor class and a huge amount of these elites and a huge amount of these folks in these rooms that I see that are pushing for President Biden to not be the nominee also are not interested in seeing Vice President being the nominee.”
Who is pulling the strings?
  1. The Donor class - multi billionaire's and Hollywood Elite
  2. Elites - the leadership of the party who have been in power for decades.
They are not interested (and neither is AOC) in leaving it to the voters. Why is she so opposed to an open conference and let the people's representatives decide.

It's the Presidency - not a consolation prize....

The Dems are in complete disarray. The only thing they have to run on is their hatred of Trump.

Obviously there are some who want Biden to step down ... if Biden chooses not to willfully step down then it will be decided by the democratic delegates and that may very well not be until their convention Aug. 19–22

I don't think she can beat Trump. The only one who has a draw like him is Michelle. The question is who's her number two. An RFK pairing could work and challenge the maga theme. Newsom would be successful as well.

Picking Newsom would require a new VP candidate since both would be from California, otherwise.

I have to say it will be interesting to find out who Trump will be running against...

He dropped out voluntarily. Under pressure, yes. But thats peoples perogative: to convince him to voluntarily drop out. Theres no democratic process violation here. Pretty much everyone on the right has been screaming for this, so it seem disingenuous for it to alla sudden be this terrible thing.

As for the replacement process, thats another story.... to be written

I'm no fan of the democrat party, but if they were willing to pay me a couple of million as a consultant, I'd tell them in no uncertain terms to find someone, ANYONE other than Harris. I don't see how Trump could lose at this point, barring some black swan event, but the only reason they would want to make her their candidate is to preserve the reputation of others that they may have considered.

If they really want to win, step one is getting rid of Harris by any means possible. There is a reason she had to drop out of the primary so fast.

I honestly think it's likely the bulk of the party is resigned to losing.

I wasn't thinking of Harris. I don't think she'll get the nod. We'll see what happens.

And with Newsom's track record, if he were to run and win, it would just prove the ol' addage, "In a democracy you not only get the government you want. You get the government you deserve."

We don't have a lot to work with. But I can see the nominee choosing RFK.

I've liked a lot of things he says, but I think his voice will be a show stopper for a lot of people. And why would anyone vote for him over Trump?

The voice is challenging but I don't see him as the nominee only as the second. If you were trying to get the popular vote you'd want a duo that represents stability. An Obama/Kennedy pairing does that and has nostalgia as well. They'll compare the country to former times and the current state. They can use the insurrection against him too. We didn't have the same during her tenure and that's significant.

He needs to go, he's seriously not mentally competent - your right.

I do feel this should have happened long before it did. You all should have had a truly open primary with debates etc and gotten to choose someone properly.

It's not like everyone didn't know a year ago Biden is not capable of this job. They did the worst job in history covering it up because Biden's mental decline was so bad it was impossible to cover up even with the entire main stream media apparatus running cover for him.

That is on the entire democratic party. They knew. Biden dropping out earlier would have been a better decision because earlier would have allowed the democratic process play out.

It is seeming that the party really doesn't like democracy much. Wasn't it the Wall Street Journal who said the problem with democracy was the voters? Or was that someone else?

But really, it's not my party so I won't butt into your business too much here I'll just wait for your party to get it's head on straight and tell everyone who is actually running for president this election cycle...

You all know about early voting yes? Actual voting begins earlier than it used to... I'm ready to go!

Me all? Im not a registered anything, tho perhaps I should be. So far I just go with the major party candidate that best represents my views. And by total coincidence its D every time! But I havent every done any "party stuff" deeper than voting in the general.

Yes the party should have pushed for that.

Going for the AOC reaction.

Its a pretty transparent rightist rhetorical tactic.

But not that many people really care about her opinion, for better or worse.

She seems pretty popular.

Who would you say is the most popular Democrat Senator or House Representative?

Congress people.... popular? Are we talking about the same country?

I mean AOC is a darling of the far left. But so what? They dont set the tone. If they did, Biden would never have happened. Harris wouldnt be the "annointed" Etc.

The right has popular congressional leaders... So I was just asking if you don't think AOC is popular amongst Democrats who is...

I guess no one really huh...

I cant think of any Id call "popular".

Most of them are just doing for their constituents a job that by its nature never really satisfies people. Nationally "popular" congress people tend to be loudmouth showboaters. Theres probly exceptions here and there Im not thinking of....

Well, we'll need a doctor's verification that she has the right plumbing for the support she is expected to get if she were to run. ;)

The jokes on us for allowing it and you see what happened under him. If she wins the stans will have a fit. They believe it's a done deal.
