I do consider myself a railfanner and will try to get a Christiansburg, VA site up and running once the Christiansburg Amtrak station gets up and running. My current favorite is the LaPlata station in Mo. Looks like they are awaiting an Amtrak this evening. I watch this on two monitors. The East on the left screen and the West (second link) on the right screen...

I am not a railfan (as in going out of my way to see trains), but trains are cool, and I do enjoy engineering and science.

This is an alternative transportation guy on YT who talks about trains called NotJustBikes.

@rockytopva , when is the Amtrak opening up in Christiansburg, VA? Hopefully it opens up soon, so you and other railfanners can enjoy the trains. I like trains cos they reduce carbon, and reduce road traffic.

Haha, yeah, the wait can be long, so luckily, there is a rewind button. Space, engineering, science, and most importantly, Jesus fascinate me. Bro, we are so similar, it is not even funny.

Right now its a toystore and in talks. The area still has its old fashion look and I am in hopes they can build on that.

Wait, a toy store is going to be converted into a train station? Is this repurposing a building? I love repurposed buildings.

And right across the tracks from the Toy Station are country shops like this. There is plenty of real estate to build a new Amtrak station with. I talked to the owner of the pictured building telling him it would be great to get involved and bring back the old Cambria as we knew it...

That looks like a nice shop. Does the shop have an HVAC department, as the sign says Blue Ridge Heating & Air? It appears that the shop sells garden decorations as well based upon the exterior.

Yes, now that I am retired this is something I'd like to do. A friend of mine told me that at any of the stops you can spend a couple of days and reboard the train as long as you haven't reached your destination. I haven't checked into this but it's appealing to me.

Guys, there should be a yearly subscription service, where one can get unlimited train rides for say, $50/month to any city on the train rail network. I'd do that, if there were trains near me.

2035? That is a long time away. We should have had this infrastructure years ago, like the Europeans did. But hey, better late than never, as the old adage goes. I will be 35 by that time.
