  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello. I'm new.

I personally believe that Issaiah 53 points to Jesus. But Jewish person says that it is pointing to the nation of Israel as a whole.

What do you say to that? Thanks.

I find it amazing that Isaiah was writing about Jesus in the future.............:openbook:

Makes one wonder how Isaiah knew ???

I say the Jews are coming up with a poor interpretation in order to keep denying Jesus is the Messiah.

Welcome to the Forum! There are so many details in Isaiah 53 that can only apply to Jesus Christ. These things couldn't be said of the Jewish nation:

“4 ¶ Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He [was] wounded for our transgressions, [He was] bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace [was] upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.” (Isa 53:4-7 NKJV)

That cannot apply to a nation, or even to an individual Jew, apart from Jesus.

Everything in the entirety of the Bible points to Jesus

Well it is obvious that Isaiah 53 is NOT speaking of the nation of Israel because Israel is always referred to as " she" not He. She is the " daughter of Zion". You can find her as the daughter of Zion or even the harlot in Isaiah but never mentioned in the masculine. One just needs to read Isaiah in its entirety to see the obvious.
Be aware that you are interacting with a non beliver so the lens is clouded.
Be blessed.
