For example, a new Biden campaign pushes the long-debunked accusation made in The Atlantic that Trump refused to visit the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in 2018 because he thought the troops buried there were "suckers" and "losers. "This story was debunked four years ago, as more than a dozen Trump administration officials who were with Trump on that trip have now disputed the Atlantic report, including former national security adviser John Bolton — who is no fan of Trump.

They tell the fake stories over and over. Often Joe will modify a story--it doesn't seem to bother the mainstream media.

Well, wasn't that the cemetery where he wouldn't get out if the car because it was raining--although the other world leaders did.
The dead gave their lives--he wouldn't get wet!
I'll bet he finished 18 holes in the rain many times.

Of course, John Kelley, Trump's Chief of Staff, later came out and verified the story. Yes, he could not fly in a helicopter but he could have been driven (as other nation's leaders did that day), and as some of the US delegation were told to do. It's even funny how one of your links claims that Trump wouldn't have made the comments in front of Kelley (a former General), yet Kelley states that is just what Trump did. It is also worth noting that Bolton, and most of the others, weren't in the room with Trump all the time (instead they were only there while briefing Trump) like Kelley was (as Chief of Staff).

Not to mention that the comments also are similar to statements Trump made about McCain and other PoWs, where his advisors have stated he made similar claims about military members.

And Trump seems to have told the truth when he "joked" in Vegas this weekend, "I don't care about you. I just want your vote."

Trump has probably been recorded more than any other politician. It's telling that they go after him on a claim about something never recorded.
They don't want to discuss inflation or crime or the border disaster.

Odd, I hear them talk about the economy all the time; about how inflation has dropped. Crime is quite low, with many categories of crime lower than when Trump was in office. And, if you want to talk about things like shoplifting, those are not prosecuted at the federal level (short of occurring in DC or on a military base, which I've heard no issues with), that the President has zero control over.

As for border, I hear Biden talk about that and even sign executive orders. He supported a bi-partisan produced bill that would have stopped millions of "asylum" seekers that don't qualify, and removed much of the backlog of asylum claims but it was blocked because Trump told Republicans in Congress to stop the bill -- since Trump wanted to be able to criticize Biden on the issue.

And Trump hasn't been recorded more than any other politician. From my memory, that "record" would have gone to Nixon, who recorded everything in the Oval Office (and ended up forcing him to resign). Trump is not recorded most of his waking hours -- just that he does lots of "rallies" (which appear to be needed to boost his ego, based on how he did them during his presidency while not running for office) where he is recorded. But that is still only an hour or so out of his day that he is being recorded -- lots of time for him to make comments in private that he doesn't want repeated elsewhere.

And again, while the worst of the comments weren't recorded, the fact is that he made some pretty inappropriate comments about POWs while being recorded (largely while criticizing McCain), which most of the military and veterans found offensive

"Last year, the mainstream media claimed that John Kelly had confirmed the allegations made by The Atlantic, which also alleged that on Memorial Day 2017, Trump told Kelly in Arlington National Cemetery, "I don't get it. What was in it for them?" "

Is that something mainstream media is claiming? Or is it something John Kelly said in a public statement?

Exclusive: John Kelly goes on the record to confirm several disturbing stories about Trump

In the statement, Kelly is confirming, on the record, a number of details in a 2020 story in The Atlantic by editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, including Trump turning to Kelly on Memorial Day 2017, as they stood among those killed in Afghanistan and Iraq in Section 60 at Arlington National Cemetery, and saying, “I don’t get it. What was in it for them?”

“A person who is not truthful regarding his position on the protection of unborn life, on women, on minorities, on evangelical Christians, on Jews, on working men and women,” Kelly continued. “A person that has no idea what America stands for and has no idea what America is all about. A person who cavalierly suggests that a selfless warrior who has served his country for 40 years in peacetime and war should lose his life for treason – in expectation that someone will take action. A person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators. A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law.

“There is nothing more that can be said,” Kelly concluded. “God help us.”

People are dead because of Joe Biden's violation of United States border laws. Know one knows the exact number of how many women and children have been trafficked as a result. The administration doesn't want people to know, and administration that has lost track of a hundred thousand children or so. The Biden administration lied for three years, claiming the border was safe, secure, and closed, while the cartels got rich on human trafficking. Joe knows how to curtail the border disaster because he has been told over and over how--rescind the numerous border executive orders he made in his first 100 days. He won't do it. H.R. 2 was passed by the Republicans in the House, a bill which would take great strides toward solving the border problems, and Democrats have stalled it for over a year while the trafficking and deaths continue. Democrats, instead of coming up with their own version of H.R. 2 and then negotiating differences--the normal process, came up with a bill that would essentially enshrine the flow of illegals, a bill with no wait in Mexico provisions and a bill which would continue the crazy catch and release policy of the Biden administration. Three Republican senators were in on the creation of the bill so the Democrats can claim it is a "bi-partisan bill" and falsely claim that Trump and the Republicans don't want to solve the border crisis.

Déjà vu. James Clapper too is doubling down on his false statement about the Hunter Biden laptop. Cassidy Hutchinson was the "bombshell" witness of the Democrats on the story that Trump lunged at the Secret Service and tried to grab the steering wheel.

I'll take the word of Clapper, Hutchison, Kelly or any number of other officials who have honorably served their country over Trump any time.

That's the problem, Clapper was caught in a big lie and there are still people who support him. I wish people knew just how dishonest and unethical some of these career bureaucrats are. I know of Clapper from back in the time he headed the Defense Intelligence Agency, the guy's career should have been ended right there. Without being held accountable the establishment gets worse and worse.

You know I might give credance to your Clapper account were it not for the fact that. you regularly go after any official who stands up to Trump. I know where your loyalty lies.

Three Republican senators were in on the creation of the bill so the Democrats can claim it is a "bi-partisan bill" and falsely claim that Trump and the Republicans don't want to solve the border crisis.

I'm not going to defend Biden at the border, I think the US would be best served if both Republicans and Democrats picked completely different Presidential Candidates. At the same time, I will note that migrant children has been a problem since Obama and new laws were passed requiring them to be returned to relatives. Trump made the situation worse, not keeping information on thousands of kids so we had no idea who to return him to. Biden inherited that mess and, in an attempt to streamline the process (the hold times for children went from over 120 days down to about 20 days); but that led to lost paperwork on about 20,000 kids (not 100s of thousands).

Of course, Trump wasn't really any better. Again, it was Trump's policies that led to the children being "lost," as trying to get rid of the huge backlog caused issues where paperwork didn't get filed correctly. Additionally, illegal immigration didn't really improve during Trump's years than it did in Biden's -- at least until Covid when jobs weren't available.

And let us be clear, the bi-partisan bill came first and enacted real changes to asylum laws that would have both limited asylum (which is unlimited now) and cut the massive backlog in asylum cases -- where it takes years before asylum seekers even get hearings. HR 2 is little more than a Right Wing wish list of things they want that they knew the Senate would not agree to. Also, as we found with the bi-partisan bill, the House has no interest in negotiating. Again, if the House had wanted to negotiate a border bill, they could have done it with the bi-partisan bill rather than just vote it down. Instead, they intentionally stated they weren't going to pass it so that Biden wouldn't get a "win" on the border issue, so Trump could use it.

My loyalty lies with the truth.

Sorry, but I had to laugh at that one. I remember us talking about the election results and I explained the Truth. A prime example was the "suitcases of ballots" in Georgia where I explained the truth. My recollection is that you never answered my comments but, a while later on a different thread, you trotted out the same old claims. And now even Giuliani has admitted his claims were false and that he knowingly lied about the election workers and the "suitcases of ballots" when sued for defamation. I seem to recall other, similar things, where I would tell you what the truth was and you'd keep repeating the debunked right wing propaganda.

Sorry, the only "Truth" you seem to care about is what former President Trump posts (which they call a "truth") on Truth Social.

Clapper had been caught in a lie, and he stands by the lie. The truth is that in Georgia they offered at least six different stories for the pause in counting, told the observers they could go home, grabbed a case of ballots and started counting after the observers left, and then lied and said there was always a Republican observer present. Those are the facts. If there are mistakes made there is no reason to lie. Just tell the truth from the beginning. And people get things wrong, if they misunderstand and make an incorrect statement those things happen, but you should not be laughing at seven lies about one particular event. I have dealt with a number of dishonest government officials, the slickest just put out new story after story as if their old story never existed. Sometimes they use the tactic of putting out contradictory stories (as with the cause for the pause in Georgia) and it makes it confusing for the press, who often ares less than anxious to expose a lie, and many just lose interest as the story gets harder and harder to follow.

It's always about him. A narcissist will never understand service to country.

And Kelly’s statement adds context to a story in the book “The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021,” by Susan Glasser and Peter Baker, in which Trump, after a separate trip to France in 2017, tells Kelly he wants no wounded veterans in a military parade he’s trying to have planned in his honor. Inspired by the Bastille Day parade, except for the section of the parade featuring wounded French veterans in wheelchairs, Trump tells Kelly, “Look, I don’t want any wounded guys in the parade.”

“Those are the heroes,” Kelly said. “In our society, there’s only one group of people who are more heroic than they are – and they are buried over in Arlington.”

“I don’t want them,” Trump said. “It doesn’t look good for me.”

The story squares with another recent story from Goldberg in The Atlantic, a profile of retired Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley, in which Trump does not react well to seeing severely wounded Army Captain Luis Avila singing “God Bless America” at a welcome event for the new chairman.

“Why do you bring people like that here? No one wants to see that, the wounded.”
