Be perfect

As part of the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus said in Mt 5:

46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

48 "You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect."

Perfect like the Father! How?

Mt 19:

But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Jesus died to give us the Paraclete indwelling Spirit. He is the helper. He helps us to be perfect. It is an ongoing process for a Christian's sanctification.

Paul concurred in Ep 4:

15 Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.

Love like Jesus did.

23 To be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

The indwelling Spirit transforms our minds to be like God's mind.

Ep 5:

1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Imitate Jesus' love. Be perfect as the Son was perfect.
