My brother is in hospital on breathing tube

He fell back a few months ago and hit his head and now he cannot swallow because the concussion gave him Myasthenia Gravis.

It's a tragic story [fueled by inordinate bad stuff such as competitiveness and meanness]
In high school he was a big guy and was on the offensive line I do believe?
The other team [maybe the coach] decided to have a couple guys go after his knee.

Fast forward years later he had to give up working a good job because walking became unbearable and difficult at best so getting to work was becoming worse and worse. He was in computers.
He gave in and got SSI.
He then didn't move as much and eventually got hypothyroid exacerbating his condition.
He became wheelchair bound, went through his life savings and eventually being on disability with insufficient income to make it month to month [despite his wife doing odd jobs] his roof caved in but had no funds to fix it nor ability.

A Christian group did it for free [he saved and bought bundles] and the enforcement officer condemned his house because they claimed his foundation was bad. ALL from exterior they knew this.
They booted him and wife and daughter out and tore it down with everything inside.
They did not allow them to get bids on any repairs.

Anyway, he gained weight sitting in a wheelchair and when he stood [which he can do to transfer] to move he fell backwards [knee spasms?]
and hit his head, got a concussion and has the above disease which is frightening since he cannot swallow he cannot breathe. So he is heavily sedated now.

He literally lost everything...

His sedation is some less but he is 'strapped down' so he doesn't pull out his line.
A couple more days I think.

This is the 2nd scare of being unable to swallow. [choking and unable to take in air]

He's a big boy. He's only partially sedated to see how his neck muscles respond/act?

He said he wants visitors and I feel like I am letting him down.
He says he understands [what my sister told me]
I have 3 cars.
One died last night. The engine blew. We were planning to get out to see him [1 hour travel]
The other is awaiting an oil pan. I should not run it. Oil goes all over and now it needs brake fluid cleaning so it does not get too hot and combust.
The other is awaiting the carriage arms to be replaced. [That hold on the tires] because they are broken.

My dad is in rehab for a broken hip and I can't visit because of my car situation too. I'm texting him, but no reply. Guess he's annoyed, but there's nothing I can do.

Is there any airport nearby? Would car rental - even for a day - be an option? Just to get up to see him...

I have not worked in over a month except a few days. But the car spazzed.
