He did, however, tweet before that, during the insurrectionist riot that Mike Pence betrayed him by "not having the courage" to put in the alternate slate of electors. But it's all good - the former P reconciled with the former VP.

I wonder what other information Scavino gave to Jack Smith.

That applies to many candidates and doesn't change the fact that people will testifying against Trump in the final months of the 2024 election, over something that happened nearly four years before then. So is that coincidental or intentional timing?

If he'd just quit challenging the whole case and just proceed to the March 4th trial date it could be all over by the 4th of July. Plenty of time before the election.

A little of both.

Three of the four indictments against him are for things that happened right at the tail end of his presidency or after he left office.

The events in the Florida documents case took place over the course of 2021 and into 2022 - it's hard to prosecute crimes before they've occurred.

The events in the NY business records case started coming to light in 2018, while Trump was the sitting president and, therefore, practically untouchable legally. Prosecutors first went after others in his organization and started more vigorously pursuing Trump once he'd left office.


The NY, Georgia and Federal cases all took time to investigate. If Trump wanted them wrapped up more quickly, he could have done things to facilitate that, but instead, he's often tried to delay them. It's hard to complain that the timing works out poorly for Trump when he's had a significant role in how that timing has played out.
