Experts, including Lieberman, have repeatedly warned over the last 12 months that the Biden administration's energy efficiency actions will ultimately harm consumers and drive prices higher since manufacturers will be forced to adopt newer technologies to achieve the standards.
In April, Lieberman led a comment letter alongside more than 15 other consumer organizations, arguing DOE's efficiency standards for stovetops proposed in February "almost certainly compromise some of the features that gas stove users want, and all for the sake of saving an insignificant amount of energy." According to the agency's analysis, those standards would effectively ban half of all available stoves.

lol @ industry “experts” whining and moaning about costs to consumers. If they were really concerned about that, they’d tell their manufacturers to stop overloading their products with poorly made electronics that fry every other year and cost several hundred dollars to repair and/or are completely open to botnet attacks.

More broadly, it’s entirely proper under all but the most fringe libertarian economic philosophies for government to enact performance standards when poor performance has negative externalities that aren’t captured by prices.

Over the holiday weekend, Harris shared an image of her and her husband Doug Emhoff making Christmas dinner. The largely innocuous pic featured the smiling couple in the kitchen, apparently making Beef Wellington. “Merry Christmas to all. May your day be filled with love, family, and good food,” Harris wrote in the Dec. 25 tweet.

During the network’s morning flagship show Fox & Friends, guest host Griff Jenkins wailed that he was “legitimately worried that they’re going to come for the gas stove” before getting even more conspiratorial.

“See, once is maybe hypocrisy. Twice is intentional,” Jenkins insisted, adding that Harris posting an image of her stove is “not a coincidence.”

The shareholders, never fear, will get their dividends. The people who will pay for their dividends will be consumers who never had the capital to have the stocks that provide the dividends. If for some reason the corporations struggle a bit there is always corporate welfare to ensure that the dividends continue to flow.

I agree but it still depends on demand. If we aren't buying these high-priced item corporations will have to reduce prices to offload inventory. Tech can only advance so fast. My solar panels are only 30% efficient and takes up my entire roof. I can't wait for tech to improve to where I need only a few that takes fraction of space.

Yes, just like the gas combustion engine is no good and we are all switching to EVs because it is the only way to save the planet. No studies are needed. Just like we all know Trump is guilty of insurrection and no trial is needed--kick him off of the ballot.

That's what you're arguing about. 12 bucks. About the cost of two coffees. And you get a more efficient appliance. When you need to buy one. The gas stove I've got was in the house when we bought it 35 years ago. It'll outlast me, that's for certain. The main change is to get rid ofany ovens that have constantly burning pilot lights. Good grief, can you still buy those? That's stone age technology....

Yeah, people are switching. You have a choice. We bought a hybrid about three years ago and I'm using about 1/3 the fuel that we used in the old car. And at about US$6 a gallon (makes me laugh when you guys complain when it goes over $3) we're saving bucket loads of money.

I mentioned above that our gas cooker will likely outlive me. If it doesn't then we'll go electric with that. All those solar panels on my roof will give us free cooking. Likewise our gas water heater will be swapped for an electric one. Am I saving the planet? Not really. My tiny contribution won't make a difference. But I'm saving money hand over fist. The first electricity bill we had was one tenth the previous one before we had the panels installed. The next one, the electricity company will end up paying me for the power I'm selling to them. That's what's driving the change.

But you are free to use old technology if you like. Maybe get a wood burning stove and learn how to make candles.

It's all about CONTROL by elitist Democrat leaders, just like COVID, do as I say, not as I do. Gifts to politically supporting groups are given out by the leaders and executive branch agencies are used for political purposed and to curtail freedom of speech. Whether it be the coal industry or washers and dryers, a president should not be deciding which industries to shut down or put under his or her thumb. And this president has greatly damaged specific industries by his proclamations, using rules or regulations where the Supreme Court stops him.
