  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

More Christians killed in Nigeria.

Please pray for the families of a number of Christians killed in recent assaults on villages in Nigeria’s eastern Taraba State.

At least ten Christians were killed when suspected Fulani Islamists and other terrorists raided the Yangtu Special Development Area near Takum last weekend.

One resident told Morning Star News, 'Some of the Christians were killed while they were returning from their farms, while others were killed in their houses in the affected villages.'

A member of the Ussa Local Council said, in a text message, 'There have been issues of Fulani bandits’ attacks in our area, and they’re constantly attacking our villages. These terrorists have been attacking our communities without restraint from security agents.'

The violent raids have brought untold misery and hardship on Christians in the area, he said. 'More worrisome is the fact that Christians are being attacked as they work on their farms.'

The Taraba State Police Command has verified that 10 people were killed, but locals have claimed the number is higher.

UPDATE

Mayflower Church members settling in Texas!

A number of families from the Chinese ‘Mayflower Church’ are establishing a permanent home in Texas, Release International’s partner for China has reported.

More than 60 members of what was the Shenzhen Holy Reformed Church escaped harsh persecution in China, late in 2019. Spells in South Korea and Thailand followed. They were detained in Thailand’s Immigration Detention Centre, before the US government intervened. Most of the families arrived in the States earlier this year. They have now moved to be closer to Release International’s partner’s Texas base.

'These faithful Christians have built up so much momentum since coming to the United States in early April – from studying English, to going to school, to working hard to provide for their families,' said our partner.

PRAY
  • For the families of those Christians killed in recent Fulani attacks on villages in Nigeria’s Taraba State. Pray they will know God’s grace and comfort
  • For church leaders in the area, as they seek to pastor those living under the threat of repeated raids
  • That the Nigerian authorities will be more effective in defending Christian communities in Taraba, and elsewhere in Nigeria
  • Give thanks that members of the ‘Mayflower Church’ are settling well in Texas and establishing a new life. Pray for job opportunities, effective schooling of youngsters and for biblical discipleship of all the families.

I pray for healing and recovery time for Christians who have lost loved ones in Nigeria. Dear Lord, I pray for the government to better protect these people from these attacks, that you would move in their hearts to protect Your own. May Your children's grief be a witness to the unbelievers around them. Let their hope of heaven shine forth.

I praise the Lord that some of his afflicted sons and daughters have found a new home! I pray for healing from any traumas that they may be experiencing, either from back home or from having to learn a new culture and language now. Remind them, dear Lord, that their citizenship is in heaven.
