  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Kansas school forced 8-year-old Native American boy to cut his hair, ACLU says

A hair rule specifically, but a strict dress code in particular. Heck, by in the latter 60s I attended a brand new high school with a bevy of brand new teachers in their early 20s. They were barely within conservative Oklahoma standards. The young women teachers, in particular, liked their short skirts.

The only reason I can think of is the scant and unclear research on things like uniforms and dress codes.

I agree it's a bit...unimportant from my perspective, but that applies to the child too. Ostensibly, the kid is gonna cut his hair at some point. I wonder if his mother is the infamous native American "Siouxs-too-Quickly."

Yes, in a perfect world, anything and everything is fireable. I believe in freedom.

He answered your question lol!
But he doesn’t seem to take into consideration that some customers prefer pink-haired workers.

This kid is not waiting on customers; he’s in grade school. So long as his hair is tidy and clean I don’t see the problem.

I can see their point, however it was common in the 60's to be expelled from school until hair was cut to a length that conformed to no rule other than what appeased the school principal in their paranoia of change. Of course being cornered by bullies with scissors was common too.
Yeah, they can demand to be referred to by whatever gender they want but not their hair style. Ughh this world is ridiculous.

They had one too, in that Jesus had long hair, but that matters little to a secular world. Each generation demands the next learn as they did and the blind lead the blind into oblivion
I can see having dress codes but not on hair styles. We don’t want kids walking around dressing provocatively or inappropriately but if they want to walk around with their hair looking messy or ridiculous the schools shouldn’t be able to intervene.

It's that lingering white supremecy that just won't go away.
We’re there white kids mentioned in the article that had long hair and weren’t required to get a haircut?

Some people rejoice that that and lesser offenses are fireable.

Yes. I have JUST learned that. I find that shocking.

Why would someone be okay with a coworker getting fired for arbitrary reasons like that?

I find it MORE disappointing when terrible or mean employees are kept around.

Do you have a link to this schools pronoun policy saying that?

That would be up to the business to know their market. Of course, sometimes businesses screw that up, as Disney and Budweiser have discovered. They might want to attract more pink-haired-worker-preferring customers only to find out that pink-haired customers still don't like their product and won't patronize their business regardless of them having pink-haired workers.

I agree, although it would be interesting to know how parents in the school district (that is, the market) felt about the issue.
