  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Especially when you consider exactly how few transgender people there are and how often they might visit your store.
It'll probably be handled the same way as wheelchair ramps being installed everywhere. Meaning it will probably become mandatory to have them installed. And it will probably be in part or in whole financed through tax payer dollars.

In ovotesticular disorder (sometimes also called true hermaphroditism), an individual has both ovarian and testicular tissue. The ovarian and testicular tissue may be separate, or the two may be combined in what is called an ovotestis. What happens then?
What do they look like?

Sure let's go with the rarest most exceptional cases to set as the standard. Pretty much the same as setting ectopic pregnancy as the standard for abortions.
People often quote Genesis; "And God created man to his own image: to the image of God he created him: male and female.'

And that is true. But God also created exceptions.

So if there is no unisex bathroom then a person who was born male and has transgendered to a woman must use the mens toilet. Have I got that right? She looks like a woman. She is out with other women. She dresses like a woman. And from what you've said before you will refer to her as a woman. But you want her to use the men's.

And you can't see a problem with that.
"She" is a he and has no business being in a woman's restroom. Period.

All for something that is voluntary. Whereas being handicapped isn't.

Birth defects are the result of this being a fallen world.

Like I said, what do they look like? If they look like a female and we can't tell the difference who's gonna know? But if you look like a dude, use the men's room. No one is going to know there either.

Even without sexual abnormalities some guys can pass as women and some women can pass as guys.

I don't know. It is all pretty confusing.

Hands are always the first thing to give it away. Even petite Dylan Mulvaney has man hands.

And you can identify as a 35 year old all you want, but you'll still be 68. And vice versa, a 35 year old can identify as and be made up to look like a 70 year old, but he's still 35.

I don't think it matters what they look like. There are multiple biological factors that determine someone's sex. A bone that's been buried for 3000 years, can be determined to have belonged to a man or woman.

This is a classic misrepresentation. No one is asking for at claiming to want to check all women. The only ones it's going to affect are dudes like you and me who look like dudes.
You don't need to ban transgender women from restrooms to the extent that you might need documentation to prove you were born a woman to stop guys like me from hanging around toilets.

It's the easy way to dismiss the points. Make those who oppose you seem outrageous. What you have just done is make women seem totally unreasonable as they will be the ones making the complaints.
You guys really don't get sarcasm, do you...

That was my point. That it's nonsensical to think that women are concerned about someone doing their makeup in the restroom who doesn't fit someone's idea of what a woman should look like. They might complain if I was in there because I am patently not a woman. Even if by some wild imaginings of a fevered brain it might be thought that I could be a transgender woman then I am still going to be questioned as I enter. I may not be in the running for a cover shot on Men's Health but I am definitely dude-like.

That is my point. That none of this is necessary. Everything else is just a desperate attempt to give it some patina of justifiability. There are genuine concerns and nobody has denied that. I've brought that upon a few ocassions. But this is politics, appealing go the voter base. There's no thought, there's no genuine discussions, there's no attempt to address real concerns. It's bumper sticker politics. And nobody expects any better from people like Pillen.

Yes we have seriously thought it through. It's pretty much what we've been saying. No one wants or needs to check the plumbing. If your a dude and look like a dude stay out of the women's room. If you are a dude, but have undergone what's necessary to look so much like a woman that no one can tell the difference then fine, use the lady's room. No one is going to know.
This is why this Executive Order is political fluff.
It’s not a a law that (doesn’t seem like it’ll pass in the Senate, anyways), people would need to “break” (as per your suggestion above); it doesn’t “change” anything except how transgender people are affected by the EO, that doesn’t have any “enforcement provisions”.
Fluff.

Oh and then there was someone who competently misunderstood my traffic stop analogy, and turned it into being about women being forced to show their driver's licence to get into a restroom or something like that.
We're still waiting to hear how you determine that someone was born male. Whether it was you or not I'm not sure but someone said 'hey, your sex will be on your DL'. So is that it? Think it through and tell us.

So where does she go? You think that it's safe that in some places a good looking woman is forced to use the men's? She's out with her girlfriends but she has to go into the men's toilet?

Seriously?
