  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

CNN —
Hunter Biden sued the Internal Revenue Service on Monday, alleging its agents illegally released his tax information and that the agency failed to protect his private records.

President Joe Biden’s son alleges the IRS unlawfully disclosed his tax return information and did not establish safeguards to ensure the confidentiality of his records. He is seeking, among other things, all documents involving the disclosure of the tax information, $1,000 for each unauthorized disclosure and attorneys fees.

This one has the potential to create some odd allegiances and strange bedfellows situations. We know some folks on the right don't like Hunter, but they also don't like the IRS.

“Taxpayer privacy laws are written by Congress, and it gave itself authority in those laws to hear disclosures about taxpayer information,” Shapley’s attorney said in a statement on Friday.

I wonder if Congress extended some kind of immunity to their 'whistleblowers', because I feel certain the IRS didn't do so, or authorize them to speak publicly about an ongoing matter involving a private citizen's confidential information.

Don't underestimate the power to cut one's nose off in spite of their face.

I believe one of the House committees has the right to see any tax return for the purpose of evaluating implementation and modifications to the tax law. That committee eventually (after a long court battle) got Donald Trump's tax returns (after he left office).

It is notable that Hunter Biden is not suing the chair of a House committee for releasing his tax return.
He is not suing the IRS for providing information to Congress.
He is suing an IRS employee for leaking his tax information to multiple reporters and talking about it on TV.

Just an additional notation. Hunter's lawyers are also suing some guy named Garret Ziegler for illegally accessing Hunter's encrypted IPhone cloud account from a password obtained from one of the hard-drives Issac Mac, the computer store owner, was handing out to GOP operatives like Oprah's "you win car, and you win car". Hunter's lawyers in the lawsuit accuse Mr. Ziegler of the following:

28....It appears that data that Defendants have uploaded to their website from Plaintiff’s encrypted “iPhone backup,” like data that Defendants have uploaded from their copy of the hard drive of the “Biden laptop,” has been manipulated, tampered with, altered and/or damaged by Defendants. The precise nature and extent of Defendants’ manipulation, tampering, alteration, damage and copying of Plaintiff’s data, either from their copy of the hard drive of the claimed “Biden laptop” or from Plaintiff’s encrypted “iPhone backup” (or from some other source), is unknown to Plaintiff due to Defendants’ continuing refusal to return the data to Plaintiff so that it can be analyzed or inspected....
Who is Mr Garret Ziegler? An ex staffer of Peter Navaro for the Trump administration.

One of the causes of action in that suit is the federal crime of illegal entry into a computer account ("hacking") for the iCloud intrusion.

Mr. Ziegler walks on the wild side of Trumplandia. He was the WH aide who let in several people to the WH (that were on the "do not admit" list) on Dec 18, 2020 for the infamous meeting with Rudy, the Kraken Lady, General Insurrection, Pillow Guy, and sleeps-with-russian-spies in the Oval with the President where all kinds of nutty insurrectionist plans were discussed.

A minor correction on the last item. Hunter Biden is suing the IRS itself, but because one of its employees was leaking his tax and tax investigation information to reporters and on TV.

I'm starting to see similarities to the actions that lost Fox 3/4 of a billion dollars.
