  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In Daniel 8, the little horn person stops the daily sacrifice. In Daniel 9, the prince who shall come, causes the daily sacrifice and oblation to cease.

Is the little horn person in Daniel 8 the same person as the prince who shall come in Daniel 9 ?

Daniel 8:9-13 is about Antiochus Epiphanes. The period referred to (2300 evenings and mornings) is that between the desolation inflicted on the temple by Antiochus Epiphanes and its cleansing by Judas Maccabaeus.

The prince in Daniel 9:26 who shall come to destroy the sanctuary is Titus, who destroyed the temple in 70 AD.

Definitely not because Daniel 9:27 is talking about Jesus putting an end to the old covenant sacrifices and offerings. Daniel 9:27 is referring back to the last individual focused on before that verses which is the Messiah, not "the prince who shall come".

It is THE PEOPLE of the prince who shall come that are the focus of verse 26 and are the ones who would destroy the city and the sanctuary, not "the prince who shall come" himself. So, when it says "he will confirm a covenant with many for one week" it's referring back to the Messiah.
