• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That really does not answer the question, as is this event Chess olympics part of The Olympics or is this something chess people put on separate from the Olympics

Chess already has Olympics anyway, it just isn't called Olympics

But that was not the point of my asking. I asked because chess is more closely related to a sport than debate. So if chess is not an Olympic event, then there is no reason to think debate should be an Olympic event

The United States, Russia, and China are the three major powers.

They are trying to lock Russia out of the Olympics.

This is proof that Debate is needed.

Maybe Russia shouldn't have engaged in a state-run athlete doping programme, that appears to have been approved at the ministerial level (if not higher).

Maybe Russia shouldn't have bribed officials to look the other way to positive drug tests.

Maybe Russia shouldn't keep invading and stealing parts of its neigbouring soverign nations.

Chess olympics

You could have 100 metre sprint chess with the winners playing the fastest game. Sweeping the pieces off the board not allowed.

Marathon chess for the longest game, with a mobile board in case they haven't finished in time for the closing ceremony.

Polo chess with equestrians moving the pieces with polo sticks.

Steeplechase chess with little hurdles all over the board.

Drug testing for spectators whose eyes look glazed after the last move took two hours.

Political chess with the pieces designed to look like heads of state.

The possibilities are endless.
