  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

More than 7 in 10 U.S. adults remain seriously concerned about immigrants crossing America’s southern border, according to a new Gallup survey.

The polling company reported Friday that 39% called the border situation a “crisis” and 33% described it as a “major problem.” Another 22% viewed it as a “minor problem” and 5% said it is “not a problem.”

The 72% of Americans who see the border as a crisis or major problem is statistically unchanged from the last time Gallup posed the question in 2019.

Trump 2024!
But the ending of Title 42 saw a vast diminishing of “the crisis”, as encounter numbers dropped like a rock.

Southern border ‘eerily quiet’ after policy shift on asylum seekers

The preliminary result [of Biden's policy shift, lifting the pandemic-era Title 42] is a nearly 70 percent drop in illegal entries since early May, according to the latest U.S. Customs and Border Protection data. After two years of record crossings and crisis-level strains, the Biden administration appears to have better control over the southern border than at any point since early 2021.

Title 42 allowed potential immigrants to be caught and released to try again another day.
Now if they’re caught, they are barred from attempting again.

Now the administration is allowing tens of thousands of migrants to enter the United States legally each month through the mobile app CBP One, while those who don’t follow the rules face ramped-up deportations and tougher penalties.

Because Biden unilaterally decided to make that which illegal legal?

As tens of thousands continue to enter each month; what really changed?

Is Trump going to build the wall and have Mexico pay for it a second time?

41 miles? MUCH easier?
It would have been more; if Biden hadn't interfered; but the last I checked he was in the process of being forced to continue Trump's work. It a shame that we have a President that seems to be doing everything that he can to undermine the security of our borders.

Sad to see so many people are still mislead by the biggest narcissist in political history.

I am appalled as well with the situation at the border. It is complex. Neither Biden nor the former president have workable answers. And congress is dysfunctional.

While he was a private citizen and the republicans held both houses of congress and the presidency?
I'm talking about since Biden became President and undermined Trumps good work.

Very little work was actually completed, especially with the advantages he began his term with. Not a great recommendation for a second try.
