  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Would someone from the Roman Catholic forum please explain whether the Calgary High School's action against this particular student is indicative of Catholic policy over all. Here is the video:

I don't know all the details and we're only getting one side of the story.

However, The Catholic Church does not support transgenderism.

That being said, Catholic Schools do not speak for the Catholic Church, especially
in Canada. As I understand it, Catholic Schools receive funding from the
Canadian government and not going along with their policies on transgenderism,
could mean a loss of funding for the Catholic school.

Here is a more detailed source.

At the least it seems he does is unwilling to accept any authority besides himself.

Also, it seems he was taking his crusade into the classroom, which is going to result in escalating responses until it stops, no matter what the crusade is. It seems he did not stop until he was expelled. That includes going back to school while suspended!

He is not a victim here.

Maybe the school doesn't want disruptive behavior that could potentially make students feel unsafe? This isn't necessarily some kind of political statement on the part of the school.

What’s the use of having a Catholic school if we are not allowed to stand up for the things we believe and our taught in our faith?
Absolutely. This news story saddens me.

I know. They need to make camps and facilities available. Canada has plenty of land, so maybe they can do this in the northern parts? They could focus on being more accepting, a kind of re-education. There are plenty of trees to make cabins and their own fires for heating, bathing, and cooking. Instead of TV they could watch videos or movies like Milk.
